And so far only 2 complaints. This was sorely needed.

There should be locker system where the kids put their cells in at the beginning of the day. (Say home room). And it doesn't open unless admin/teacher approval code.

Cell phones are part of the real world, but this was a huge issue. We need to teach kids that they can’t just pull out their fun at their leisure in the real world. Try that shite when you’re talking to your boss and see what happens

I feel like I’m on drugs whenever I read anything about phones in school.

I graduated (public) high school about ten years ago and if a teacher saw a cellphone, you either got a warning to put it away or they took it away and your parents had to get it. When did schools stop doing this?

Georgia as well. It’s a complete ban for K-8. I think HS can have it durning lunch and maybe between classes.

According to my wife, much gnashing of teeth (from parents who need to be e-thethered to their kids all day) was done prior to the school year. Now nothing. Sounds like maybe it’s working.

it was school/teacher dependent back then, now its a State mandate

and there is no warning and it includes lunch and the hallways, not just the classrooms

When parents started coming to the schools and screaming at admin that they need their kids to be able to text them “in an emergency”. Roughly around year one of COVID.

Plenty of things are “part of the real world” but not allowed in school. How is that even an argument? Sounds like something a cell phone addicted kid who wasn’t educated properly would say.

We do not have a problem with cell phones.

We have a problem with kids learning and being taught that you do not have to follow laws and rules that you don't agree with and think are useless. Usually by parents and adults that do not follow laws and rules that they don't agree with and think are useless.

More laws and rules won't fix this.

Texas did the same as well and the complaints have been minimal. It needed to be done.
