I thought it was a series of penalties and sacks. That was 87 yards in one play.

Too bad they didn’t get a automatic first down on the next play.

That’s almost as crazy as MSU scoring 57pts in a half

Nvm: thought that was the first half

If I remember correctly it was 1st and goal from the one or two and they went penalty, no gain, -87

Mississippi State actually looks stupider on the play than La Tech does. How did they fail to pick up the ball so many times?

I was at that game

When Mississippi State walked out on the field every position player was about 50 lbs bigger than the TECH player opposite them.

The DAWGS were doomed

One of only 2 times I can remember a team having a 1st and goal and having to punt. The other was a bowl game between Alabama and Michigan State. I just looked it up, and it was on the 7 yard line. A run for no gain, and incomplete pass on 2nd, a strip sack and fumble recovered at the 38 by MSU, and it is all of a sudden 4th and goal at the 38, outside of FG range, and they punted for a touchback. I'm sure there are others, but I can only remember those two.

Does the guy recovering the fumble get -87 rushing yards on the play? How does that work out?

ESPN has it listed as 1 car for -87 yards to the Team, not an individual player.

I remember the Saints once having a 2nd and 52 situation.
