Williams CEO Rejects Fed’s Push to Revive Constitution Gas Pipeline in the Northeast

(P&GJ) — President Donald Trump has renewed calls to restart the long-stalled Constitution natural gas pipeline, but Williams Cos. says it won’t pursue the project without support from state leaders in the Northeast, according to MSN.
Williams CEO Alan Armstrong said the company is not willing to risk another costly failure after losing hundreds of millions of dollars on prior attempts, including the Constitution Pipeline. That project, designed to transport gas from Pennsylvania to New York and New England, was abandoned in 2020 when New York regulators blocked water quality permits.
Although Trump has suggested the federal government could use eminent domain to fast-track approval, Armstrong dismissed the idea. “We’re not gonna go putting our neck out until they invite us with the red carpet rolled out,” he said during the CERAWeek energy conference in Houston, as reported by MSN.
Armstrong told MSN that Williams is focused instead on expanding capacity in southern U.S. markets, where demand from power-hungry data centers is fueling new projects. He said the Northeast has been left behind in that boom because of high electricity costs and limited pipeline infrastructure.

Good luck with that.

At this point I would hold out until the states involved actually cut some checks to reimburse them for the extra cost of the previous shutdown(s). Wish their citizens the best and hope for a warm winter for their sake and call it a day.

CERAWeek was last March.
If someone is reviving this as a news story, someone may be trying to pressure those states.

Good let 'em burn...or lack thereof...more for the business-centric, energy-intensive South to use.
It'll only get worse up there, can't fix stupid. Good to see a CEO not skirt around the BS.

Dont blame him.
His position highlights Trump.is trying to fix it and puts the onus on the proper fricktards.

Good for him. Let the Northeast wither on the vine.

As a New Englander...the government can take that filthy pipeline and shove it right up their arse! Not interested, don't want and don't need. We have no problem up here paying slightly higher energy costs to preserve our pristine wilderness and countryside and protect our wildlife. Besides, energy cost really isn't all that bad anyway...I barely drive 5,000 miles per year, I heat with wood, run the window AC units maybe a total of 30 days out of the year and supplement my energy usage with solar. Plus I'm on septic and perfect artesian well water and bring my garbage and recycling to the dump 3 miles away...so no bills there unless I have a large dump load. Don't need the jobs either...at 2.6% unemployment as of July our problem is a labor shortage, not a job shortage. So thank you Mr. Armstrong for respecting the desires of the Northeastern and New England residents and to the Trump admin...you can frick right the hell on off!!

Well, that settles it. The northeast doesn't need investment anymore, so it's time to pull out and invest where it's wanted. Time for companies to relocate where they are wanted and take their tax dollars with them.
I assume this post was sarcasm, because nobody could be so dumb, except for the people who actually live there and vote that way.

Amen. He needs to concentrate on releasing all the Epstein files like his supporters want not force unnecessary things on people who don’t want them. Good for you.

In regards to gas and petroleum? Absolutely. How about you take all the investment for that dirty energy that you want wherever you are, and we will take the investment for the clean energy that you don't want.

Not sarcasm in the slightest, but I do understand how more complex ideas seem "dumb" to the average layperson. Our economy is perfecly "fine" up here. Are there ways it could be even better? Sure, but why if we have met our needs? You see, we simply hold a different value system that some things are more important than the constant desire or drive to have and obtain more regardless of the consequences. We instead focus on understanding the limits of what is needed and are satisfied when that has been achieved. Not that you will ever understand that way of thinking, but to put it simply the value we receive from protecting our nature and environment exceed any value we could ever find in our bank accounts, And that is how the majority of us wish for it to remain.

Natural gas industry should tell the state leaders that they wont ship any gas to any state that doesnt support.
Let the yankees freeze.

They import it via pipeline from CANADA and from overseas via an LNG terminal in Boston. This idiot just doesn't want to get if from US sources for less money.
