Free roof inspections?

Getting more and more mailers and even random texts offering “free or complementary” roof inspections. Do these companies ever not find anything wrong with a roof, even if it is in good shape?

You’ve come to the right place! OT has a roofer of choice, but you gotta hide your ladies.

I wouldn’t let some of those clowns anywhere near my roof.

I want them to find something wrong. Nails work their way out, etc., and I want that shite fixed before hurricane season. The last inspection I had done I only spent about $200 to remediate the issues that they found via drone. It was well worth it, when the other people in my hood were dealing with the insurance company for roof damage, I just moved on with my life.

A free roof inspector will always find faults, he works for the roofing company

It's not a roof inspection, it's a sales pitch

Yes most are out to find or create minimal damage and convince you to make an irrelevant claim. There are good companies out there that don’t do that. Give you a hint…it’s not the big ones that are pushed in front of your face or ears constantly….yet people still chose them. Hopefully with these new laws that passed in August, some of this stuff will be eliminated.

We have. A couple of years ago - found nothing of immediate concern. Stout hail storms this Spring - called them - claim made - roof replaced. Hassle, stress free.

Sure, I had my roof inspected recently. The guy came down and said my roof is completely worn out, but there is not enough storm-type damage to get my insurance to pay for it.
I intend to use that company when I decide to replace.

Don't do it unless 100% necessary. Walking on a roof causes granule damage, can loosen fasteners and seals, etc, and shortens the roofs lifespan.
Those idiots do more harm than good.
Also, if they succeed in getting your claim approved and you’re in Louisiana, your insurer will likely drop you after paying out. That record follows you and may force you onto the Louisiana FAIR Plan at roughly double your current rate.

FYI, they probably caused more harm walking all over your roof to make the repairs than what they repaired.
Keep people off your roof unless 100% needed

Interesting….are you suggesting to not file a claim on a roof if it is caused by storm damage?

I’ve been getting these the last month. I actually got a new roof in April! I thought I just got added to some roofing company spam list because of it. Glad to know I’m not the only one.

I’ve never gotten a mailer like that tbh

They'll miraculously find hail damage even though the hail was a mile away.
Quote for the cost for a complete replacement of your roof.
Convince you to file against your insurer.
They will:
A) deny it because there is no hail damage
B) determine some shingles are damaged (not enough to meet deductible)
C) determine roof needs to be replaced, but because it's almost 20 years old, will only estimate repair for 15% of the quote, either not meeting your deductible, or just barely
D) your homeowners insurer drops you for a bullshite claim.
Definitely "free"
