Headed to Dallas Sept 12-13 (Friday/Saturday) for a weekend with a lady friend. I’ve been before but don’t know the city well enough to confidently choose the best place.

Looking for suggestions on a nice hotel around the $400/night range (flexible, not set in stone). Preferably downtown or close to the action. Walkable. Bonus if it’s got a good restaurant/bar and a perhaps a spa.

We’re both in our 50s and looking for something upscale with a nice atmosphere. My lady friend knows Dallas well, but I’m trying to plan this on my own without her input and would like to impress.

Hotels I’ve looked at so far: The Joule, Omni, The Adolphus, Crescent Court, Thompson.

Any recommendations on restaurants or things to do in the area during that short time would be much appreciated.

TIA!

Melrose hotel is small and romantic and at the very least go to the Library Bar just off the lobby. It's in Uptown so lots of restaurants and a quick Uber to most paces. Nobu, Uichi, Salum, Fearings and Dragonfly are all good. Billy Can Can for cocktails

So overrated. Unless you’re a middle aged divorced executive looking for a call girl. Bob’s on Lemmon is such a better experience. A true old school steakhouse.

Also, if you’re going with your lady, Mister Charles is a cool place. In a beautiful old building that used to be a soda shop

Downtown is not where you want to be if you're looking for the action. Look in Uptown/Victory Park.

For Hotels, the Crescent, Hotel Zaza, Marriott Uptown, and The Stoneleigh. For more upscale options you have the Ritz-Carlton Dallas and the Mansion on Turtle Creek.

For a steakhouse, Bob's is a good one but old school, there's also Al Biernat's which is always good. Closer to the hotels mentioned, I like Truluck's.

For other types of food Avanti has been great along with Sixty Vines and Si Tapas (All depends on what you're looking for.

If she's into shopping, Highland Park village has every high end store you could imagine and there are a few decent restaurants here as well, but you're paying for the location mire than anything. Knox Henderson also has a few good spots.

If the weather is nice stop by the Katy Trail Ice House for a cold one during the day.

I lived in State Thomas/Highland Park for six years before moving to Austin and still go back on a regular basis. If you have any detailed questions I'm happy to provide additional info. I'll actually be back this weekend.

The obligatory stay in Fort Worth recommendation!

Walkable, safe downtown, lots of good restaurant options, and enough fun things to get into.

If she knows Dallas well, it will create a different set of expectations...you will not have to compete with the way she has seen Dallas before.

H2O Tiger nailed it perfectly. Follow his recommendations. I couldn’t have said it any better.

Mister Charles

Hotels:
-I haven't seen the Hotel Swexan mentioned. Developed a couple of years ago so its very new and luxurious, right down the street from The Crescent. Has a steakhouse called Stillwell's
-The Mansion on Turtle Creek is a Dallas staple though, I've never stayed there but love the bar and the overall property and area.

Restaurants:
-Mister Charles is an awesome restaurant for both food and atmosphere. It's not cheap but I had a great experience both times I've been.
-Javier's is another Dallas staple. More of a mexican steakhouse than tex mex. Filet cantinflas, quail, or mojo de ajo are my go to entrees. They have a cigar bar if thats your thing.
-As others have mentioned Bobs (the lemmon location) is a classic.
-If you are looking for upscale sushi, I'd go Uchi over Nobu all day.

If you want to eat in Highland Park Village:
-Fachini for italian (I actually like his other restaurant Nonna better, though. It's right down the street from Bob's)
-Cafe Pacific for steak/seafood.

Appreciate all the feedback earlier!

It really helped me loosely narrow it down to the following:

– Crescent Court – $1,054 total
– Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek – $1,336 total
– Hotel ZaZa – $905 total
– The Joule – $793 total
– The Adolphus – $600 total
– Thompson Dallas – $1,302 total
– JW Marriott Dallas Arts District – $1,087 total

No Spa
– Warwick Melrose – $535
– Le Méridien Stoneleigh – $537
– Hotel Swexan – $1,408

Trying to pick the best fit and atmosphere vs value $$ etc.

Considering the prices, I’d definitely go stoneleigh in my opinion
