I'm getting tired of this me.
The broad at the counter told me they scan for age and how much tobacco you buy aday. She said, there is a limit how you can purchase.

Any truth to this?

Depends where you live, local/state regulations might have limits, but I don't believe there is a limit in Alabama...

Been a few years but last time I went to a place that did this they swore it wasn’t attached to anything but just a way to verify the ID is valid and to verify age. Mainly a fail safe for a dumb counter worker who can’t add. Don’t think there is a limit but I’m almost certain there is a recorded kept somewhere or will be used later when they roll out some insurance disqualification for people who use tabbacco. They will deny you coverage because you bought a pack of Marlboros in 2013.

I would like to know if they sell this information for more profit for the store? I have researched it some but have not found anything.

Around here they scan your license (at certain stores) for anything that is age related, alcohol, tobacco, lottery, and spray paints that I've seen. I just avoid those stores that do scan, none of their business what I purchase and when I do it.

They scan for lottery tickets as well. Wonder if there is a limit on those?

If they don’t and by chance get busted because ABC sent in a decoy to buy tabacco, the store gets a huge fine and the clerk gets a ticket for selling to a minor

Wait until you get old enough to where they look at you and may, or may not, just ask you what year you were born. Sigh... 1973.

I wouldn't mind being carded again.

Pretty sure gas stations require their employees to scan IDs for liability reasons. Do you trust the average gas stations require their employee to accurately enter DOBs or not to sell to underage people? Scanning IDs for alcohol/tobacoo/lottery sales makes sense.

I’m almost 68. I don’t participate in that shite.

I drove from New Iberia to Houma one day and I was thirsty. Stopped at eight gas stations on the way home and everyone of them motherfrickers wanted to card me. In my 60’s!! I’m stubborn and wouldn’t do it. I

Finally stopped at the Supermarket in Morgan City and picked up a case of Heineken. Made it home.
