Is Clemson pretty certain to be the opener at Tiger Stadium next year?

That's how it's scheduled as far as I know.

LSU probably get shafted again like not having Texas come to Tiger stadium.

Yes, as of now it is scheduled for 9/5/26. I don’t see any reason that would change (outside of the inevitable storm predictions)

Are you expecting the world to lose its mind again and shut down society?

The LSU/UCLA and LSU/Florida State series were scheduled before 2020. It's likely LSU didn't want to also schedule Texas from 21-23 when those games were set to take place. By 2024, Texas was a conf. opponent...which made rescheduling the home game with Texas irrelevant. Same as LSU's pre 2024...or even 2020 series scheduled with Oklahoma.

Baring a pandemic or Clemson joining the SEC next year, I'd say the game is on unless LSU choses they don't want to play it and Clemson agrees.

Clemson will figure out a way to get out of this game; just like Texas did.

Clemson would have to buy themselves out of this game, it’s happening. LSU also has McNeese scheduled. They can add one more OOC game.

After that, 2027 is open to add one P4 game. 2028 starts the SMU series.

I’d like to see LSU add a Big10 team soon.

FWIW all you have to do is look at Ole Miss/Wake Forest to see what can happen without the need for any sort of pandemic or conference realignment. Ole Miss played the first leg of a home/home series at Wake Forest in 2024. The following week, Wake Forest cancelled the 2025 return to Oxford and paid the $750k breakup fee in the contract.

I would like to think that we’ve got better contractual protections in place to prevent this exact scenario from happening - especially after seeing it play out with another ACC school last year - but who knows?

We usually struggle the first game of the season following a national championship

Is Sept 5th "week 1" next year? I guess week 0 would be a Aug 29 matchup

Agree, that is why I asked the question.

Hope the game is at night and the stadium is packed.

I want Dabo and "little old Clemson" to get a taste of the real big leagues.
