Huge shoutout to the Uber angel at Clemson

I live in Georgia, not far away from Clemson, so I had to be at this game. I stayed in Seneca, about 15-20 minutes away, at the same place as another TD poster I met up with, LSUguy2023. Since we weren't that far away, our plan was to Uber back and forth between Seneca and Clemson, which worked fine on Friday afternoon/night, and Saturday morning.
On gameday, we walked around campus a bit, but mainly hung out at TD's and Tiger Town Tavern, watching other games there. Clemson fans were welcoming, and are really looking forward to the return trip next year. Then it was game time, and we all saw how it went. You probably heard the Clemson boos on TV, but some of them around me admitted we should have gotten that TD on the overturned call, they know they got away with one there. We finally won a season opener, and I would have gone on the field if I were farther down, but I was in the upper deck.
After the game is when the story really starts. Since LSUguy and I had separate seats, our plan was to meet up afterwards, and Uber back to Seneca after traffic had died down. So we met up at Esso, waited for a while, then tried calling an Uber. It would have cost about 4 times what we had paid that morning, but worth it. Still, no drivers, my request timed out. We tried again... and again... and again, with absolutely no one coming to pick us up. Then 2 AM rolled around, still no Uber even though the game traffic was gone, and Esso was closing, so we had to wait on the street. By 2:30, we were at the point of calling a cab from Greenville, we were stranded. And we weren't the only ones, a number of people around us were having the same problem.
Then out of nowhere, an older gentleman drove up in a minivan. He was an Uber driver, but not how you would usually expect it. He had just driven to Esso on his own, and offered to drive the 2 of us and 4 Clemson fans back to Seneca. Of course we all offered to pay him, but he absolutely refused it. We finally got back at 3 AM, and I don't know where we'd be without him. Probably still stranded in Clemson.
Since I haven't posted in a while, I know TD has been wondering about me, so here I am. Back in April, I had a medical emergency, and spent some time in the hospital, then a while recovering, and dealing with some personal issues at the same time. So much happened at once, and I'm not going into detail, but things are a lot better now. So happy we won the baseball championship, and I got to witness a huge opening win!

People complain about our traffic, that was the biggest shite show of traffic leaving a sporting event. fricking shite show.

I can't believe we couldn't get an Uber for so long, we were willing to pay out the nose for a 20 minute drive, after game traffic was long gone. Just ridiculous.

Great to hear from you. A lot of LSU baseball fans were worried when you apparently dropped of the board.

Great to see you back Cheer! We missed you this baseball season. You and I met at the USCe game when Dugas hit the grand slam. Great story! Glad you made it out. We sat in traffic for an hour before getting home.

USCe is a fun trip, despite their shenanigans. I would have gone back to Columbia, but life got in the way. Glad I met you there

Missed you in the game threads for baseball, Cheer. Glad to hear you are doing well.
Sounds like you had a blast this weekend and got quite a story to tell to boot.
Looking forward to seeing you in the game threads this baseball season, and hope your health and life are great going forward.

I've watched all the tournament games now, but wasn't on TD to see the reactions. I can only imagine TD after we lost to Little Rock in the regional

I hope you left $100 on the seat. Sometimes even if someone refuses you figure out how to pay as a genuine thank you.

Good to hear from you. Are you coming down for a home game and fall scrimmage this year? I'm looking forward to catching up. First scrimmage is October 9th.

I left the cash I had, and I know some of the others did too.

Yes I am, for South Carolina. That's the weekend of October 11, which lines up nicely.

JML! Great to see you. I'm feeling a lot better now, thanks for everything you do
ETA: Assuming there's a baseball scrimmage the Friday before, I'll be at the Box for it, probably on the 1st base side with Scuba

Our uber driver cancelled on us at 11:30 as we were walking up to the starbucks on Tiger Blvd. We tried to get another and at 3am we gave up walked to Waffle House to get the kids food, and my wife managed to find a Lyft driver. We didn't get back to our hotel until 3:30 AM. Absolutely a shite show trying to leave that place.

It’s like this at almost every college town. It’s pretty much what you sign up for. Similar happen to me in Oxford. Ended up walking out near the conference center. Luckily I kind of knew where I was going because cell phones were useless and I could barely get maps to work.
