2019 had 9 players from that defense who were ultimately drafted, so that will be hard to beat.

Game 1, 2025.

That 2019 D at the end of the year was good.

Baker knows his stuff.

I think this is the best game 1 D we might have ever seen at LSU.

Give me a healthy 2019 over this team when healthy and/off of suspension. Why? That team had divinity and others injured or suspended until towards the end of the season, look at what they did in the last couple games and playoffs when they tightened up. OU was putting up tons of yards on everyone. Didn’t do shite until it was out of hand. Look, it is easy to relax with that offense and we saw some of that like versus Ole Piss.

Much closer to the 2011 Defense with respect to the Blitz packages Baker dials up.

But we have only played one game so the case study is still on going.

Very promising though

Since 2011? 1969? I mean how far are you going back. Maybe the best game 1 since 2020…

My answer to this is going to be that I don't really care which one is/was better. We fricking playing defense again, fellas. That's what is important here IMO.

One game is not a big enough sample size. Better comparison might be 2025 vs 2011

It’s 1 game. The 2025 defense looks like the real deal but we need a little larger sample size.

If it continues to look like it did Saturday by the end of September then Yes, it’s probably a lot better than 2019

2025 had a great single game. I'm optimistic.

But the 2019 defense doesn't get their due. They gave up points during the regular season due to the bend-but-don't-break style after injuries, but at full health and when it mattered most, they were elite.

how? What made it better?
1 game or seasons end? I mean keeping the number 1 overall pick who won a natty the season before to 25 and OU - who scored at will on people to nothing until it got out of hand.

I’m trying to figure out what exact defense you’re comparing. A defense fully healthy and off suspension at the end of a season or 1 with 1 game.
Aranda was an excellent DC.

I agree with the others, more of larger sample size is needed for me.

Too bad LSU didn’t have this defense with the 23 offense, that could have been an all time great team.

With all the new players, this will be the worst game they play. Obviously injuries can change things, but I think 2025 will be better than 2019.

Looks like 2025..... but that 2019 offense could overcome any bad defense.
