Everybody on the Rant hated Denbrock his first year. I remember he was called Kelly’s barbecue buddy, not innovative, bad play caller, … the usual. That changed when JD5 wasn’t afraid to throw a pass in year two. Give it some time and we’ll see.

I think LSU just won a big game in Clemson the offense well not great. It didn’t do bad and does look improved.

This board is delusional enough to believe they can actually judge assistant coaches.
I remember them wanting to fire Yeskie for most of the baseball season.

Denbrock running the system he did when he was here- Yes.
Denbrock running HIS offense that he ran at Cincinnati and is running now at ND- Not just no, but frick no.
When you look at our scheme for two seasons and our recruiting, the offense wasn’t changing last year beyond tweaks for Nuss’ strengths. As soon as Denbrock left, he immediately went back to the offense he was running before. People here wonder why he left what seemed like a great situation for a lateral move- it seems like running his preferred offense may have been a big reason, because he was never running that here.
As for Sloan, I will take the offensive scheme we run here over Denbrock’s current offense. It fits the skill profile we’ve always had access to here in LA and recruited well. If Sloan doesn’t improve, replace him with someone better to run this same scheme.
As for which is a better OC, there’s no debate to be had there. It’s just a matter of system and fit.

Denbrock WAS great…for one season, when he had a Heisman QB and All-American WRs. The rant hated him year one.
