So, "The Death Valley argument"

So what, who ever started it first. No big deal to me. But, they stole all our music. That shite is criminal. Back to Death Valley. I am pretty sure it's been in recent years with upgrades that Clemson that they added "Welcome" to the Death Valley sign.

I’m going to be honest and non biased.
Clemson was Death Valley before LSU. It doesn’t make us not Death Valley.
We are both Death Valley, they were first, we are better.

correct.
like when an artist covers a song that blows the original out of the water.
Sure Dylan wrote “All Along the Watchtower”, but that’s a fricking Hendrix song now.

Isn’t really an argument at all

Yeah, we have our own thing with Tiger Stadium. They have their thing with the rock, etc. It doesn't bother me. Adds fun to the small rivalry we have since we barely ever play each other. Our place is obviously more intimidating though.

This petty argument all centers around one specific idea.
What stadium do you think of when death valley is mentioned? Obviously the 2 states notwithstanding are going to say their own, however who does the nation think of?
Everyone outside of South Carolina thinks of LSU, and that's what matters.

After last night we should steal their rock just to frick with them.

I think part of the confusion is there is also a Baton Rouge in South Carolina, believe it or not. About 100 miles from Clemson.

They also both started using the name in the late 40s or 50s. The people who started it or stole it are all dead and gone.
Even if Clemson did use the name first. It’s not like LSU just started using it this century.

I’m 73 yrs old & the stadium was called
Deaf Valley. When did it become
Death Valley?? Inquiring minds want
to know.

I suppose that could throw some kind of confusion, but I don't see how. It's obvious with the big arse LSU, standing for Louisiana.

Clemson DV = Mobile Mardi Gras.
They can have the original one. I’m content to have the better one.

I’m 76 years old and lived in the stadium when I went to LSU. I don’t really remember which is correct but they’re both true!!

The “leadership” at LSU is slowly but surely decimating the Tiger Stadium atmosphere.
It’s sad.

I'm only 72. It was called both Death Valley and Deaf Valley 55 years ago in my first of 7 years at LSU.

They copied the colors and "Tigers" mascot from Auburn. John Heisman, yes that Heisman, coached Auburn and then later coached at Clempson. He copied it.
Clempson's use of 'Death Valley' was documented in print before our use of it, as I understand it. But LSU used it within a year or 2, at most. To me it's telling that they have to specify that "Clempson Welcomes You to Death Valley" Our sign doesn't have to specify - everybody knows they're in the real one.
"Tiger Rag' is a obviously an early jazz tune from New Orleans roots.
In other news, the first ever documented use of the phrase "24/7" in print was a quote from an LSU basketball player in Sports Illustrated.

We also stole "Neck" from Southern.
The Saints stole "Who Dat" from us, who stole it from Patterson HS, when Dalton Hilliard played there.

And then the Bengals stole it from the saints but changed it from dat to Dey.
