I’m visiting at the hospital and probably gonna get a room nearby, what would be some suggestions?

Renaissance Baton Rouge Hotel On Bluebonnet. I haven’t been in a few years but it was nice.

The Renaissance is nearby and a little closer there is an Element, haven't stayed in that one but it is a Marriott property usually nice for the money.

Staring motel across from Popeyes on Essen

It's still nice and maybe 5 minutes from the hospital. There's also one off of Summa across the road from BR General that seems decent for a cheaper option.
ETA - Element by Marriott. Had a few vendors stay there and they said it was nice.

Renaissance is the answer. Everything else within 5 miles of there is a dump. We recently stayed at L’Auberge for an event and while it used to be nice, it’s pretty dated and beat up.

The one I mentioned off of Summa is new and pretty nice. It's in the "health district" they are trying to create and looks like about $115/night.
I work in the general vicinity, and get asked this question a lot when I have out of town folks visiting the office.

Drury is a good one. Free breakfast and dinner/drinks.

Renaissance is where I overnight in BR.
Safe and comfortable.

Drury might be the best value.

That's where your ole lady told me to meet her the other night.

To the OP, sorry for whatever leads to you visit someone at the hospital.
I find it totally unnecessary for lsu xman to be so insensitive at this time in answering an honest question with such an answer.
You obviously do not want to visit the motel that was suggested.

If you gonna make a joke, at least do your homework.
1: neither are on Essen Lane
2: Staring Motel is not across the street from Popeyes, it’s probably a mile further south
