About stating his intention to run the ball. I enjoyed premiering only 1 feature back and i found it curious that having the most prolific passer that we made a such a ground game statement. Not sure why we can't get open and throw over the middle.

We really didn’t run the ball that well. 3.8 yards per carry. We put ourselves in a lot of obvious passing situations which makes it more difficult to throw. Especially in a hostile environment in week 1.

Clemson had 2 potential 1st round draft picks on the defensive line. We won’t see a more talented defensive line the rest of the year. We ran the ball good enough to keep them honest in respecting the running game.

In 2019 with Burrow LSU was nearly 50/50 running and passing. Balanced football is good football.

Kind of misleading. We ran the ball in long situations, due to our defense dominating and being conservative, which negatively impacted the average.

Not only are you drawing conclusions based on one game, it was the first game, on the road, against maybe the best defense they'll see all year.

Let's get to october before we declare what can and can't happen.

Sloan loves those routes that pinch the sidelines and offer the best chances of success in preventing interceptions.

Because not having a running game forced Nuss into trying to be a hero and make mistakes last year.

We ran pretty well and we didn't have some of those runs last year. Kept them from teeing off on Nuss

Besides QB, the strength of Clemson’s team was their front seven, and LSU’s weakest unit was our offensive line. Now, think about it. Would you employ a strategy that depends on our weakest unit standing up to their strongest unit? In warfare that’s how victorious generals often won, by trying to get those kinds on matchups.

Instead Kelly and Sloan came up with a strategy of dinking and dunking and running the football. And they did it knowing that they had a defense that would limit Clemson’s offense. Intelligent.

Right. If we can up our run game and be consistent, it will open Nuss up for more deep balls in short yardage situations.

We ran for 3 quarters just fine. Our last 8 rushes went for 12 total yards. Before that though, we were 21 rushes for 96 yards (4.6 ypc).

When we weren’t just trying to bleed clock and end the game, we ran well

Just looking to bitch about Kelly, ran the ball way more effectively than we did against any good team last year. Most of you are not realizing how good and talented that defense was Saturday. Good teams run the ball and commit to it, look at Clemsons offense.. we absolutely made them one dimensional and they looked like shite

Strong running game bolters offense

I agree with this article based on what I saw and the point I made here yesterday. CBK demonstrated his faith in a young and inexperienced Oline Saturday that is a huge confidence boost for them in their ability to grind it out on the ground. I believe in one feature RB and not by a rushing committee backfield. Durham being a 1,000 yard rusher this season would be a real treat.

Does this exclude the time killing when the arse kicking had gotten out of control?

Needs to be adamant about clock management and kicking FG’s with 15 seconds left in half with no time outs.

That should help your ypc if your running when the defense is playing pass for 3rd and long.

I am not convinced you know this to be true. How about explaining it?

True….has to be a perfect throw and difficult for a receiver to get any separation

Understatement Of The Year

Two plays prior to that play they wasted 20 seconds lolly-gagging up to the LOS and getting into formation.
