What is deal with Chris Hilton?

He really doesn’t add anything to this offense. In fact, his false start as a wide receiver negated a really big play to Anderson in the 2nd half. Looked like Kelly benched him after this penalty.

Hope he gets it together but he has had few impressive streaks at LSU.

Hilton is a deep ball vertical threat. We didn't throw those very often because of clemson's two high look.

Thanks. I wondered about that.

He definitely does with his speed. We just didn’t go vertical a lot in this game.
That’s said, he’s not the only one now that we have Nic Anderson and Barion Brown. If he can’t line up right, he may find his arse stuck on the bench. Hopefully he gets that shite together and balls out this week vs LA Tech.

He needs to start the Tech game on the bench.

You are out of your mind. He is THE vertical threat on this team. That just wasn't the game plan last night clearly. I think the game plan yesterday was planned with the assumption the oline would struggle and Nuss would need to get the ball out quick. That was not the case but they stuck to their script and won.

At some point his potential should’ve translated into an actual result on the field. He seems like someone who is almost completely disinterested in anything once it becomes difficult. His spot should be wide open for competition

I think the guy just seems to lack the dog like say a guy like Aaron Anderson has.
Seems to be a little soft when the going gets tough.
Unfortunately for him we have a room full of Dogs at WR.
May not see a lot of PT this year unless he nuts up.

He doesn't do anything better than Anderson, Brown, Parker, or Thomas other than run fast in a straight line. Not to even mention Sharp and Green.

He destroyed Oklahoma and Baylor at the end of last year
Struggles in the first game of the year and he "doesn't add anything"

I coming to the realization that Hilton will be a better pro than he is at LSU..

I think it kind of was the case, then LSU wore them down with the running game.

Definitely bookmarking this for later.
But you go ahead and make a sweeping generalization off of one game against probably the best defense we will see this year and with an offensive line playing its first game together.

Hilton is a game changer. He is a nuclear deterrent. Even if he’s not filling up the stat sheet, his deep threat changes the game.
In the next couple of weeks, when he plays teams who don’t have Clemson’s level of athleticism, you’re going to see him blow by corners and safeties.

He will not be a pro. He has elite straight line speed and can be a vertical threat, but he is afraid of contact and doesn’t have great hands.

He’ll get his. I think he gets better separation on deep routes than Brown.

Last night he didnt. Hilton’s avg ypc is over 21yds. Only ball thrown remotely deep last night was the hole shot to pylon to Brown. I dont even know if I saw Nic Anderson last night

This is enough to get him a roster spot in the NFL. See Cyril Grayson.
