Replay was never meant to look at if a football is wiggling a 10th of an inch. I’ll expect the referees to back their blown call somehow

Brother, I’m not sure this is in the top 5 of why college football has lost some of its luster

Yeah so that call sucked arse and the refs should absolutely be fired
However, to say that game wasn’t exciting is criminal

Doesn’t matter if it moved a foot. He crossed the plane with control

The foot hitting the pylon with the ball simultaneously crossing the goal line still in bounds immediately makes it a touchdown. That rule of surviving the ground is for a field of play end zone catch, the pylon aspect what we saw last night makes it a touchdown period. Stupid fvcking call by the booth and that spineless ref crew last night.

Looked like a Tom Ritter call. Was he in the booth? Inquiring minds want to know.

Yeah man, missed calls are definitely a new thing

Yep. Every single play seemed important. That was a very tense game.

In no particular order, off the top of my head:
- Transfer portal
- NIL
- Corporatization of the in stadium experience
- Commercial length ruining both the in home and in stadium experience
- Playoff expanded to the point that “every game matters” is no longer true
I would say all of those have more of an impact on college football being less “exciting”, at least in my opinion.

That crew needs to be fired.
Posted on 8/31/25 at 9:21 am to Geekboy
He caught it and decided not to roll his other hand under the ball while falling to the ground, that’s the mistake. If you don’t do that you risk ball movement hitting the ground and the catch being overturned.

It was the best game I watched yesterday
I was excited

I’d say college football is not exciting now because a shitty team like Clemson’s gonna look like an all pro NFL team against the ACC, get in the playoffs and get destroyed. Yesterday means nothing to Clemson. Same thing with Notre Dame. And Ohio State plays a dozen tuneups before their real season starts.

Not venting so much as asking: I thought “the ground can’t cause a fumble” but they are saying it can cause an incomplete pass? This idea of “football move” should stop when the player gets a foot down in bounds. Also, I thought if you touch the pylon it is a touchdown period, end of story. I agree with the OP in that we are all getting too mental about this stuff - just play football man - a catch is a catch

Impossible.
Fun Bunch spent 7 pages telling us all how we’re wrong to believe it was a bad call.

But the ground can't cause a fumble, so you have to have obvious proof that the ball was coming out before the ground. He had control, the ball hit the ground and then moved, therefore, it's a catch because the ground can't cause the fumble. Same as Durham's TD, has possession when he broke the plane and only lost control when he hit the ground, ruling was a TD.
