Did the Altima driver win? Or the one that lives in a double wide?

She also followed up the win with a quote about how New York isn’t in the US.

It’s amazing to me these women are pro tennis players. The big European girl is a singles major winner.

Any context on what the issue was? I know the white girl pointed at the net a couple of times. What was she mad about and what was the black chick stone-faced about?

In tennis when a player hits a lucky shot that hits the top of the net and bounces over the unwritten rule is the player who hit the lucky shot acknowledges it with a "sorry". Townsend did not acknowledge the lucky shot and didn't say sorry. It's really stupid of Ostapenko to get upset over, but it's even more stupid that the media is trying to make this into a race issue. When she said she had no education and no class she was referencing her tennis etiquette.

Another reason Ostopenko was mad goes back to before the match started. When warming up the pros usually start from the baseline, for some reason Townsend decided to start at the net. This of course messed up Ostopenko's routine. Another reason she called out Townsend's lack of class and education in reference to tennis.

This happened during the Wimbledon final when Anisimova bean Sabalenka. During the match Anisimova hit a shot that hit the net and went over for a point. Anisimova didn't say sorry and Sabalenka said to her "are you going to say sorry". After the win some in the media started asking if Anisimova was rude.

It's all pretty stupid really.

In tennis, there is this gay unwritten sportsmanship rule where you are supposed to apologize to the other player if you hit a shot that hits the net and trickles over, out of reach of your opponent, winning you the point. The US player didn’t do the fake apology and her opponent was big mad about her not fake apologizing and made a big stink about it during the match.

That’s pretty much it. I for one think the act of apologizing for an inanimate object’s role in helping to award you a point is beyond stupid. Getting upset about someone not doing this performative act is even more dumb.

It’s akin to not giving the wave to someone for letting you merge into traffic or holding the door for someone when you see them behind you.

Wow, yeah that all seems kinda stupid. The whole fake apology thing for a ball hitting the net is beyond stupid for sure. I wondered if it was something like that considering she pointed at the net. If anything, the revere should be true, where the person who lost the point on a netted ball should just be like "good shot." Lucky shots are a part of sports. But you can't be a very public sore loser about it. Just tip your cap and move on.
