So they changed the ruling to fighting AFTER Clemson told them to look at it?

Right but Houston didn't give a frick once he left.

If the NCAA is going to enforce the penalty they should be informing institutions that the penalty is in place.

Assuming Thamel’s report is accurate, the letter should be an easily obtainable public record and then LSU is going to look like idiots.

The suspension or lack thereof shouldn’t impact whether you recruit him, at all, but it certainly should have been included in planning for the last month. Maybe it was.

Why should you look like an idiot when you don't know that an "easily obtainable public record" exists?? How would LSU know that the NCAA sent a letter to UH to even go look for a copy of it?

Because the player in question likely would have been informed of the suspension when it was handed down, prior to participating in Houston spring ball. It’s not like he wouldn’t know in the scenario the NCAA is presenting

I’m saying the record should be easy to release, now, confirming whether egg belongs on LSUs face or not.

If you watch the video, he is throwing punches. The commentators say he is ejected for fighting. LSU coaches know the rule and had to die their due diligence. If not, shame on the staff.

What should they have done? Draw attention to something nobody was talking about? Move the best safety down the depth chart in camp because of a half of football in game 1?

It was changed after the game. Houston's coaching staff was informed via letter, which is probably why LSU's staff wasn't aware. Thats a failure on the NCAA, IMO. Thry should've notified LSU as soon as Haulcey's transfer was official.

I would wager that LSU actually looked at every availible game note that indicated what his ejection was for, not the broadcaster's call of the ejection.

Haulcey himself didn't even know the penalty had been levied. It's absolute horseshite.

The NCAA didn’t send the letter to Houston. The Big 12 did.

Does the big12 have more say so than the ncaa? If so it's the conferences governing the sport not the ncaa so why follow ncaa rules?

That's a big assumption.

If our compliance staff doesn’t already do this, they can require any documentation of a suspension or ejection from an incoming transfer. Seems like it’s a process miss. Still recruit the player at a position of need.

Thats even worse. The NCAA couldn't notify them.

It’s not like it was a secret. BYU had the guy he fought suspended for a half in their bowl game. LSU could’ve easily pieced that together and reached out for clarification months ago.

A random Clemson reporter figured it out. How does our compliance department not?

No Houston was told in December. He was always suspended. Clemson wasn’t wrong. They’re still pussies for waiting 3 days before the game though.

That’s about the dumbest thing to do if you’re LSU.
