It seems to me that the chasm between the Political Left & Right in this country is wider than it's ever been. Just being honest, but I think the #1 reason for this is because there's a substantial number of people on the Left who are extremely radical right now. I mean, even the Washington Post just said that they will NEVER post a single positive article about President Trump.

Frankly, I'm having a hard time caring too much about this. The Democrat Party is currently 30 points under water regarding their Approval Rating. They're already looking at the potential dilemma of getting "killed" by their radical base if they try to run a "moderate" in 2028, but could an AOC, Kamala, or Buttigieg win in a General Election race against Vance or Rubio?

Is anybody here that concerned with the current gap between Left and Right?

PS - Go Woke, Go Broke (Sorry, had to do it).

I think what is concerning regarding the gap is that it is NOT organic in the slightest... large forces are at play in dividing citizens.

People on the 2 sides are more similar to each other than you might think. Both groups can get highly emotional about their pet topics and abandon rational thought, both want more government spending (just on different things), and both view politics through a 2 team lens. Neither side seems to engage in any introspection.

Sadly, in some ways I think many on the Right have moderated and moved left since 2016.

PS - When the camera is off the politicians who were just arguing will pat each other on the back and return to their special club.

The further apart they get, the closer they grow together.

Absolutely. Very good point.

I mean, when they're ALL chanting their stupid catch phrases like "Oligarchy" or "Chaos!" or "King!" then obviously the Left is being manipulated and programmed by a relative few.

Every generation thinks it is reinventing the wheel, that things have never been more divided, that everything is coming to a boiling point.

The truth is, this is a universal constant of life. It changes shapes and faces and names, but the truth is that society barely holds together in any form whatsoever, with the occasional train wreck or spillover, and there is no great reconciliation between peoples possible-- this is the world of the most possible compromises

Don’t miss your blind spot: Many on the Right are being programmed too. Conservative Media, Inc. is fully engaged in that effort.

I think people forget how much people on the left HATED Ronald Reagan back in the 80s. They just didn't have social media and message boards to scream to the world about it. I had friends in 1992 that were threatening to move to Canada if Clinton won.

Going farther back, don't forget how much liberals hated Dick Nixon. Neil Young wrote songs ripping him.

OP referenced the media.

We won’t know if it’s possible to bridge the gap until we start presenting everyone with objective and validated news rather than agit prop designed to support the establishment and globalist perspective.

If presented with fair data with which to make their decisions the left still rejects the rights adherence to traditional American values, nationalism and individualism over collectivism then at that point we can safely say there is no shared path forward, but not until then.

Populism.

The left has been majority populist for decades. The right has gone majority populist over the last 15 years or so.

Populism is adherently collectivist and the only principal that it appeals to is, “Us vs. Them.”

So on one hand, the right and the left are more bitterly opposed than ever.

But when you look at the substance of the policies that they advocate for, overtime they will continue to grow farther and farther together, with the right pulling left.

Social issues are really the only thing that divides them now.

I don't know they all seem to be in near unison when it comes to spending our money and clamping down on our rights.

let me show what that looks like in 2012 arkansas was considered a blue oasis in a sea of red, democrats controlled 3 out 4 constitutional offices including governor, 3 of our 4 congressmen, and both senators.

obamacare wiped them out in 2012 and 2014. the democrat take way was "people who vote for democrats don't want republican light" so the state party went hard left.

today democrats control 13 of 130 legislative seats and every constitution office is held by a republican. our entire congressional caucus are republicans and life for a democrat is an every day get up and be served a schit sandwich kind of day.

it's glorious!

Step 1: stop trying to make everything partisan or political

Step 2: stop being addicted to dopamine hits of emotionality

Step 3: analyze news/sourcing with objective logic and rationality, instead of echo chamber logic and emotion.

These 3 simple steps would help with most people.

The “political right” is in the same place it’s always been. The left has just sprinted far and fast in the opposite direction so that meeting in the middle can’t happen anymore as the “middle” is farther left than the entire Democratic Party was even just 30 years ago.

Yes. Many people live in different realities, but only one involves common sense.
