Baseball / Football / Basketball Card Appraisal

I recently went through my cards and I have a forgotten amount of high end cards and complete box sets from mid 80's through early 90's. Lot's of elite player rookies and error cards. Has anyone ever had their cards appraised and where at? I think I'm sitting on a possible six figure number. Any advice would be appreciated.

unless you are breaking boxes that run $1000's of dollars they aren't worth nothing

When you say “high end” what do you mean? Because that 1990 Topps Griffey card with a rough edge and rounded corner is worth about $.50.

Aside from a few select cards, these are not worth much. You might be able to get 10-15 bucks a box.

Don’t pay someone to appraise. A guy at a card shop will lowball you. Honestly, go to eBay and make sure you filter and look at sold items, not listed. That’ll give you an idea.

Yikes, the absolute worst era for sports cards (as far as value is concerned).
Unless you have some major rookies like MJ, Bonds, Griffey, etc, they aren't worth all too much.
Post some pics of what you got! Always great looking through that era

Take your 5 best cards and 5 best complete sets see what they cost on Ebay, then you will have pretty good idea of your cards value.

LOL. Thanks for the mental anguish and thread torture support.

I’m have tons of cards from the 80’s early 90’s and it’s true they don’t have much value.

The value in cards from that era is in the eye of the beholder. I have MANY of those sets, as that is my youth. These days, I try to get them signed. It’s a fun little hobby. If you’re in it to make money, the stretch from about 85-94 is worthless.

I have one of the Bonds rookies (I think Topps) and it's still not worth all that much even though it's been almost 40 years and he's arguably the GOAT

80’s and 90’s cards aren’t worth nearly as much as you think because they were too mass produced.
Like someone else mentioned, go to eBay and lookup the same card and filter to recent sales. Don’t worry about listings because sellers over-value their stuff at prices no one will buy at. Only pay attention to what actually sold.
If you have some cards that might actually be worth a decent amount, its going to be heavily dependent on condition and you’ll need to send it off to a grading service like PSA where it’ll be graded and encased. And on valuable items, there’s huge differences in value of a graded 10 vs an 8 or 9 in the same card.
ETA: you could sell them “raw” (aka ungraded) but they wouldn’t sell for as much as if they were graded. Raw is only really only if you know it wont grade well because of nicked corners, card was cut off center from the sheet, or some other minor damage

error cards
It’s my understanding that there are very few error cards
Cards with an incorrect stat or birthday are misprints & have no special value
About 3 months ago I got all mine out & started researching. Unless you have a Jordan rookie card there’s not a lot of value.
Search the card on eBay, filter for sold & you can get an estimate.
There’s a big difference in a PSA 10 value & a PSA 9 value.
IIRC it’s about 20.00 to get graded.
ETA
Started buying some 2025 Topps
The amount of cards, special inserts, parallel cards & variations is insane.
For some strange reason the First Pitch Series (a baseball card of a celebrity throwing the 1st pitch) irrationally pisses me off.

While not worth much, it's those cards I grew up opening that made me fall in love with the hobby. I rarely cared about what X rookie or star was worth. If I pulled a common of my favorite team, I was thrilled. Now, it's not much of a hobby anymore.

No it won’t. 99% of cards from 86-2010 are worthless…especially topps
