Get heart burn thinking about that peach bowl New Year’s Eve kick in the balls.

Try not to think about it. Think 2019

Typical Les game where he refused to put the team away. Dude would start trying to run out the clock because we’re up a score going into the 4th quarter.

If I recall correctly, Les randomly decided to break tendency and throw the ball on 2nd and 3rd down (both incomplete) rather than melt clock late game

This. The man who hated the forward pass decides to throw the ball rather than try to get a first down that would win the game.
Two incompletions and a punt gave Clemson just enough time.

The one time you want the count to run he passes.
Zero business losing that game.

think we had 6 three and outs that game on offense.
terrible.
terrible.

Wasn’t there like a Clemson 4th and 16 at the Clemson 5 yd line and we let them complete a pass over the middle for a 1st down? They then went on to kick the FG to win.
Even Dabo said this was the game that turned them around.

And Dabo had the most cringy post game interview on the field

We were powerless to contain Deondre Hopkins in that game (13 catches for 191 yds, 2 TDs). Clemson outgained LSU 445 to 219 and had neary four times as many first downs (32 to 9). Mettenberger was bad in the game and airmailed the 3rd down throw that could have sealed the win on LSU's final drive prior to Clemson's game-winning field goal.
The 2012 Peach Bowl performance by LSU (back when all starters played in the bowl) shows that LSU was no lock to win the SEC (vs. No. 3 Georgia), much less the national championship, had LSU held on against Bama in the TJ Yeldon screen pass game in Tiger Stadium.

Ah true, non-homer view
Yet just 2-3 head coaching decisions and it could have been different. The agony.

Who was Clemson's QB that year? I forgot. I remember him throwing out of his mind in that game. Seemed like LSU lived in the backfield in that game and that guy was making all kinds of miracle throws under pressure.

Believe it was Tahj Boyd that year

Now I get it......Dabo Swinney had nothing to do with it.
And I guess....home grown Louisiana "cerebral genius, who looks, thinks, talks and shares the same intellect as us" Ed Orgeron took them off the map.

Les should have left the play calling up to others.
LSU certainly had chances to put Clemson away in that bowl game.

Agreed. I always thought it was weird that so many posters assume that if we held off Bama, we woulda won the natty. Who knows how puckered the team woulda been down the stretch, especially with the demons of 2011. Beating UGa isn’t some given.

We famously let Mett attempt a couple passes on our last drive before they took the lead instead of running the ball to kill clock.

Weird game
Our last 3 and out was actually 3 passes and out, where we hit an 8 yard pass on 1st down... and then didn't just run the ball on 2nd and 3rd.
Leslie said something to the effect of "they had bottled up our short run game in the second half", which was true to an extent, but give HIll the damn ball.
(revisits stats....)
JEREMY HILL ran for 10 YARDS PER CARRY that game (12 carries, 124 yards).
TEN!
Even if you take out his 57yard TD, he was still hitting for 6ypc.
This was Les forgetting to give the ball to Charles Scott vs Kentucky in 07 all over again. SMH.

Les Miles was simply a HORRIBLE coach. So many wasted games, so much wasted talent, so many wasted opportunities. LSU with a great coach could’ve won at least four national championships during his time.
