How's the area? Where are some places to live? I'm not opposed to living closer to Houston and commuting since I'll be mainly driving against rush hour traffic.

plenty of great suburbs and school sin that area. Area is very good overall like most houston suburbs

where to live depends on lifestyle and what you are looking for. give us more info, age, married? kids? what do you like to do as hobbies if not married and no kids etc

Maybe somewhere around League City. Demos are pretty good for the metro area. It’s in Galveston County, not Harris County, which is a plus. You can take 146 up to Exxon pretty easily. If you’re from Houma like it says then you’re used to getting smoked by Hurricanes so no big change there.

I forgot to mention if you look into League City make sure you know where future Grand Parkway is going to go so you don’t have a highway through your yard. The current plan is for it to go along SH646 to 146.

No avoiding shitty traffic in the Houston area.

Seriously, I would consider the Clear Lake or Seabrook area.

Some pretty good fishing in that Texas City region on down to Galveston. Kind of a bummer, though, that flounders have to be 15 inches to keep and you only can keep three specks a day.

Toughest part about moving here with the bags compared to Louisiana. I hit them pretty good on Bolivar but the day can be over in 45 minutes.

southern part of league city or clear lake would be where I lived then if you want the suburban life. Close to Kemah, Galveston, nasa, the lake and lots of golf courses. League city prolly more affordable, get a house in one of the subdivisions and ride around on the golf cart and make friends. plenty to do in that area and close drive to houston and not a bad commute for you.

plenty of shopping and restaurants to keep her happy too

subdivisions like marbella, hidden lakes, and that area around southshore drive if in LC. If in Clearlake the subdivisions and area around southshore harbor nasseau bay

Im assuming you want suburbanite lifetstyle too.

I lived there for about a year back in 2017.

not a bad area.
close enough to Houston to go into the city anytime you want.
far enough away from Houston to avoid the city anytime you want.

Mont Belvieu is newer and nicer. but also was pricier last time I went.

You won’t get a relocation package if you ever get assigned to headquarters. So consider living somewhere between the two if that could be a near term option.

You can get way more than that at Home Depot

I'm not sure you're driving against the traffic as much as you think. If you live or work in or around Houston, you will be spending a lot of time in a car.
