WWTOTD? Uber Share

Would you share an Uber with a stranger in a bind?
I’ve got an early flight, and I reserved an Uber last night to give me plenty of time. I’m in a college town that is decent sized but not so big that Ubers are abundant at 4 am.
My Uber guy messages me saying he hit a pothole and has a flat tire. He’s canceling.
There’s another bubba at the same hotel obviously waiting for an Uber. His ride is arriving just as mine is canceling.
So I quickly tell him the situation and offer to pay for his Uber if he will let me hitch a ride.
Dude says no.
We are staying at the same hotel, and it’s a nice one. We are headed to the same place. And I’m in a bind.
I made my flight. But the whole thing struck me as kind of beta. I’d help a dude out in that situation every time.
Maybe I’m the a-hole. The OT is pretty good at pointing that out.
And I get that there is some “Dear Facebook” in this post.
But I’m tired of dudes being pussies. Maybe you all can help me understand.

I don’t think I would have asked a lady. That would be creepy.
But this was a grown arse man.

It all depends on the vibe given off. Your vibe must be a shitty one.

Thought about that. Don’t think so.
Well dressed. Nice luggage. Calm. Clear.
Plus, in this context, you’d have to give off a totally dick vibe for me to turn you down. That really isn’t me.

PLOT TWIST:
Bubba is on my flight. Won’t make eye contact.

Well then, maybe he had a conference call he didn’t want you listening to. It’s bad enough when I have them in transport and a driver has to hear them.

At 4 am? Maybe with Europe or Asia.

I’ve never used Uber, not because I don’t trust it, just never needed it in my neck of the woods. I probably wouldn’t think twice about that scenario in my community, not a chance it’s happening in a strange city.

Yeah. I get that. But this dude was a business traveler. You can tell. So am I.
Also, he blamed it on the driver. Said the Uber driver wouldn’t let him. Now that’s clearly bullshite.

lol that was a dick move imo if the ole boy knew you were in a bind. Hell I shared a car from Dallas to Baton Rouge with 4 ppl I met in the Dallas airport at 3am one morning after our flight got canceled.

No

I travelled out of home every other weekend to offices or job sites for over 25 years. Before Uber, and using old fashioned cab company I probably would have shared. Since ride share probably no. This could very well be a set up for robbery with all the communication available between bad people. At 4AM in the morning is worse. If during daylight hours with people active and around, maybe, MAYBE.
I suggest that you not share if this situation arises again. Why take the chance.
BTW, I traveled so much, some of the ground crew (Hometown) knew me by name if they saw me boarding. Not flight crew, ground crew working on the planes.

Dafuq they going to get?
I keep $20 bucks in the wallet. I don’t wear a watch. Laptops are password protected.
You think they are going to have a multi-person set up to steal my luggage?
I get your point. But I just don’t see how it applies here.

I'm on your side on this one. I would have 100% shared given the exact scenario. The ones on here telling you no are of the same beta class as ole boy. No nuts.
