Let's get this out of the way REALLY early.

BKs buyout is 50 Million.
A new coach is going to cost 8+ Million a year.
Our CURRENT roster is reported at 18 Million in NIL spending.

50+18+8= $76 Million just to replace a coach + next years NIL.

This doesn't include buyouts of other coaches and then their replacements.

Let's relax and enjoy the ride for this season. I've got a feeling its going to be WILD.

A new Coach will cost north of $10m and require a long term deal. How many coaches with HC experience and a proven winner will take a job in the SEC without the big buyout if 10 wins isn’t enough to keep your job while running a clean program. People on here are delusional.

These buyouts aren't paid in an immediate lump sum but you are right there's no way BK is fired this year. I think he's gone after 2026 if we continue the decline.

The only way we get a HC for less than 10 Mil a year is if we promote someone like Blake Baker to HC. We could get him on a cheaper deal, let's say 8 Million, because he's never been a HC before.

I don't think you'd add next coaches salary here as you'd already be paying BK's salary next year if he wasn't let go.

A new coach is going to make more than BK is making currently. Especially when you consider who would be handling the deal.

25% would be due within 60 days of termination for Kelly’s contact. The rest paid out through 2031.

You guys get so hung up on the payout.

If the board actually thinks he's no longer the answer after this season, they will move on, regardless of the number.

They only lose MORE money by putting a product out there that nobody believes in.

If Kelly loses 4 games this year, how many people are gonna go to games next year, donate to NIL etc.

If things go south, at some point, having him be our coach is actually more expensive than giving the payout and moving on.

Even with the bad Orgeron years, LSU athletics was not hurting. You think winning 10 games this year will mean no one will show up at Tiger Stadium next year? Hell no, it'll be packed and rocking as always, as real fans will still come.

Nobody rational predicts that LSU fires Kelly absent a collapse of 6-6 or worse that cannot be excused by losing Nussmeier. But 8-4 or 7-5 creates a poisonous environment leading into 2026 that could cause the wheels to fall off during the 2026 season, in which LSU plays Clemson again plus nine SEC games.
