Were't we complaining that Saints didn't draft a WR?

Now you get a guy who can play instead of an unknown for a future fourth? How is that not good?

Spend only a 6th rd pick on this “player” and most would not notice or care.
But Loomis was AssRaped by Payton for a 4th rd pick.
This is important because a 4th rd pick in the draft is a very high pick.
The players history only warrants a 7th rd pick at best….and the Broncos were probably going to cut him anyway due to good WR depth.
That’s why people are upset.
Not too shabby to receive a 4th rd pick for a player you were probably going to cut and receive nothing.
But that’s OUR Mickey Loomis.

The guy has 450 yards to his name and is turning 28. He’s the age most guys will be a year or so into their second contract. It’s not the end of the world but it’s not a slam dunk either.

And he has a knee injury. Too many red flags to justify a 4th and a 7th. But with the way Mickey has been drafting we are likely better off getting this jag than whiffing in the draft

We overpaid no doubt, but in more concerned that we threw away our 2nd and 3rd this year. That will have a bigger impact on our team in the future.

There aren’t that many people complaining. If anything, people just think giving up two picks for him was a little too high.

It is good.
This board thinks keeping a 4th rd for next years draft is a huge part of the rebuild. They’re acting like we literally threw the pick in garbage.
Instead of realizing that trading a 4th for Vele is actually part of the rebuild.
CSP is a hall of fame coach. He worked over CKM and got great value for a trade. So what.
Moore wanted a big receiver. He got his guy.

That’s very reasonable. And on this board, it’s not that that many people are complaining, it’s just the same few posters complaining loudly, constantly and on damn near every post. One complains about every single thing being Loomis’s fault, one complains that every thing is Gayle’s fault. And the Most Constant one Complains about ….. Well Everything !!!

A very high pick?

The way this board overvalues draft picks is hilarious

One can only assume they are post generators. If they were not a LSU/Saints board would not put up with such obvious bullsh!t.

Whatever fits their narrative is how they react.
Dennis Allen as the coach has jaded all the young fans. They’ve been melting for 3 years.

Not counting this year, our most recent 4th rounders were Nick Saldiveri, Jake Haener, and Ian Book.

Wrong, it’s the best way to turn a franchise around, hitting on these mid round picks on cost controlled deals. Look around at the best teams in the league.
Especially for a team that has been run into the ground salary cap wise. If Vele can be a number two on a low cost contract for two years, it was an ok trade.

He had 475 yards his 1st season. You phrased that like he has 450 yards in a 5 year span.
Let's take a look at who had more production than him last year for the Saints:
Juwan Johnson- 548yds
Alvin Kamara- 543yds
***Vele- 475yds
Foster Moreau- 413yds
Olave- 400yds
MVS- 395 yds
Shaheed- 349yds
Cedrik Wilson- 211yds
Taysom- 187yds
Tipton- 99yds
It could be closer to a slam dunk than "not the end of the world". Just him being healthy all year could give him a chance at being our #1 WR compared to last year and depending on injuries this year.

But just think of the great WR we could get with that 4th round pick, like a Nick Toon/s

You have him controlled for 3 more, no? I'm not the biggest fan, but if we're trying to do a 2-3yr outlook rather than 1 in isolation it's a solid trade.

This is how I feel about it. Just shows you how they feel about the wide receiver room. Supposedly 2 other teams were interested in him.
I think we all would've felt better if it was a 5th. Honestly I don't like giving up a 4th. Why didn't they just draft a wr in the 4th. Olave is bound to get hurt.
