The cops and extra police presence don’t bother me one bit. They’re a deterrent to crime. Which is a good thing. They aren’t out to get anyone or be the scary boogeyman.

Neither party bothers the other. I Iive my life and they’re protecting and deterring crime.

It’s a beneficial relationship for the city .

But I guess some idiots would rather it just be a lawless land with criminals running rampant .

Small minded, simple people have this problem with regard to many things.

Caring about what something looks like rather than the facts about it.

Best example I can give you is people who froth at the mouth to ban "assault weapons" regardless of the fact that statistically they kill almost no one in America and the fact that they don't operate any differently than other weapons that look like hunting rifles that the same people couldn't care less about.

That's the society we live in, though. We've been conditioned to believe that what matters is optics rather than substance.

Why? Are you afraid that one of the LEOs is going to just decide to shoot or rob you? I'd say the chances that that is going to happen vs a regular citizen deciding to do those things approaches zero.

Plus, give it a while. Once criminals know that it's not going to be tolerated, the visible presence can be rolled back.
