LSU basketball released it’s 2025-26 non-conference schedule

For those wondering, here are last year’s final NET-rankings for the teams we play at home.
Tarleton St 302
UNO 346
FIU 260
Alcorn 330
Omaha 160
Southeastern 208
Prairie View 356
Southern Miss 299
Confirmation that LSU will be perfectly ok having <2000 people at the pmac in Nov & Dec, then will make tickets to SEC games cost too much for any casual fans to want to come.
Everyone associated with the LSU basketball program needs to be gone ASAP. The entire group is clueless

Damn I am going to make that Texas Tech game

The stretch from November 28-December 13 will be fairly telling, but the season ticket holders get the shaft yet again. This is the worst home non-conference schedule in a while. Omaha is the "best" home game.

McMahon loves these garbage OOC slates so they go into SEC play with a decent record before finishing at the bottom of the league.

Thats a pretty easy OOC outside of Texas Tech.
BC and GT are expected to be towards the bottom of the ACC. SMU is considered about where we are going into this season (mid-tier-ish). Depaul is bottom tier Big East. Havent seen an MVC write up on where Drake might stand, they obviously had a great year last year but new coach, new team this year.

I see 5 solid opponents out of 13 games. None at home though
SMU somewhat of a home game since it’s a double header in Nola

They are using the women to sell tickets and avoid embarrassment of an empty arena.

no one came to big games last year. this way we get some wins.

It's almost like this coach and program are completely disconnected from the fan base...

If nobody watches, nobody complains! Maybe we can keep McMahon through his whole contract.

Our pre-conference schedule has been crap for a long time. It's hard to build any interest in the program with so many shitty early season games.
I miss the old days of scheduling home-and-homes with name-brand basketball schools from the ACC, Big East, etc.
Granted, at our current level, we'd probably get stomped. But I'd rather 7,000 energized fans show up in the PMAC to watch LSU play Virginia in December than suffer through a Prairie View pounding in front of 1,500 seat-fillers.

EVERY major conf. program is going to play multiple weak mid-major programs in the OOC schedule. The problem is McMahon has generally scheduled the worst of the worst mid-major programs. If you are in the SEC you're likely to play a SWAC team...but you can't play two! You're also going to get at least 1 or 2 weak instate opponents. But you can't play the worst of that limited group (UNO this year). Doing so leaves you very little room for error ahead of SEC play. Combine that with what looks to be a crappy Thanksgiving tournament, that means LSU has to go no worse than 3-2 vs. Drake, DePaul/Geogia Tech, BC, SMU, Texas Tech to even give themselves a chance to build a tournament resume in SEC play. Even that might not be enough if Texas Tech isn't one of those wns.
To illustrate:
Oklahoma was 6-12 in the SEC last year. That was only 3 wins better than LSU. Yet, OU made the NCAAT as a 9 seed while LSU wasn't even in strong consideration for the NIT. Those 3 extra SEC wins weren't the big difference for OU. It was beating Arizona, Michigan and Louisville (all at neutral sites). LSU went 11-2 in non-conf. play. But none of those 11 wins were against anyone worth a damn. You have to play and BEAT good teams outside of your conf. McMahon rarely puts LSU in a spot to do so.
To me, this just looks a lot like the 16-17 season (Jones' final year). A wasted year to get to the inevitable conclusion that was known at the end of the prior season. The dwindling excuse makers are holding on to ANYTHING they can to attribute the poor results of the last 3 years to anything but McMahon simply being a poor major conf. HC. This schedule is going to ensure very few will even recognize it is basketball season until January.

In this day and age they choose not to edit the face of LSU women’s basketball on that poster….

What big games? Florida St?
Otherwise, LSU was 0-3 by the time they played Arkansas at home (which was somewhat well attended). By the time #1 Auburn rolled into town at the end of January LSU was 1-5 in SEC play with an average margin of defeat of nearly 11 ppg. Whatever casual fans may have been interested in early January had already seen the writing on the wall and checked out. Still, the AU game had a paid attendance of nearly 11k. LSU then lost at home to Texas by 31 and EVERYONE checked out.
