Clemson gets the ball out quickly. Klubnick is good. Very quick release. Accurate passer. Fast runner. Tricky QB, but not as accurate as Nuss. Disrupt their timing, and he loses accuracy. Not a great running team. Oline is not overpowering.

Wide Receivers are really good. Great on the edge, and good at making contested catches. Very quick.

Dline is very disruptive and able to get pressure on the QB. Rush Defense is very suspect. If our Oline can get push, Durham will feast.

I don’t quite get the Clemson hype. They can be overpowered. Physical Oline play will overpower them, but they are quick and crisp on offense. Our edge defenders will have to be very disciplined. Our Corners will need to tackle well. Klubnick is very dangerous with his feet. Perkins will need to spy him closely.

Just a few observations that I hope are helpful.

i watched them vs Louisville and nothing about them stood out as a positive.

this LSU team will have to beat this Clemson team on the road, very doable.

I watched every game of theirs from last year and had a similar but different take.

Defensively, their defensive line was impressive. But they were weirdly bad against the run which it is hard to tell if that was a Coaching/Scheme issue or if there players were just locked into a pass rush get off at the snap. My initial thoughts are that this was more of a coaching issue but we won't know that until the game.

Their secondary was up and down but it was better than ours from a year ago. I was not overly impressed but I was not unimpressed either.

Offensively I 100% can see what the hype is here. Their receivers and QB return and were very productive last year. However, I do not see any reason to think their offensive line is elite. shite I don't even think its that good. They struggled against their top opponents last year. I think they will be solid and if they are average their offense is going to put up points. But they line can easily be dominated and that can lead to big plays for the opposing defense.

I 100% get why they are hyped because they will put up points and dominate the ACC so they will be in the playoff. But their offensive line and defense is going to separate this team from being a Contender and Pretender. I don't see their offensive line being in the top 6 of the teams we play this year. Now maybe they improved but a lot of their players just look to be solid college starters and that doesn't bode well anymore like it did back in 2003.

_______

Yes, but they do return more starters than most teams. We will see many of these same players.

Everyone is banging the drum about how they're returning so many, and that's why they'll be so good. So... it's relevant.

I also think the addition of Tom Allen as DC is a major factor. He’s a great coach. They will be fundamentally sound alignment and assignment a good at tackling.

I mean, isn't the argument that Clemson is good is because they have so many players returning from last year's team?

I'm sure that'll be true eventually. But a single offseason of implementing a new defensive scheme shouldn't be overlooked.
