Went to the doc and got hit with a $28,000 charge for Skyrizi. I knew these biologics weren’t cheap, but seeing that number on paper almost made me fall out of my chair. Insurance hasn’t processed it yet, so I don’t know what my actual out-of-pocket will be, but just seeing that “list price” is insane.

Is there any way to get a co pay that’s lower? I got a psoriasis rash that’s the size of New Jersey on my buttocks. I’m trying my hardest not to scratch!

The doctor charged you for it or the pharmacy?

I just got mad because my partial prescription (5 pills) cost $20 when all 30 costs $15. Pharmacy is short so I pay way more? Nope not gonna do it.

Seems like my kid with chrons pays like 5-6k per dose of humara. Iirc

Doctor / Walgreens - they’re a real pain to deal with for insurance claims - had united before switching to BCBS.

Are you happy that you supported 100 other people to get that drug free of charge? Probably in other countries.

Drug companies allowed to advertise / create demand.

Patents and process that enables drug companies to extend / limit demand.

Gov’t does not negotiate on behalf of consumer.

Free market results? $28,000 drug prices.

Unless the accounting / pricing game distorts real pricing.

US citizens pay amongst the highest prices for drugs in the world.

Greatest country in the world I am told.

Listen w/eyeballs and something not adding up (except Skyrizi invoices, that is).

Your doctor didn’t charge that.

The pharmacy did.

Call your doc and ask for the generic.

Physicians don’t make money off of prescriptions.

The only way they make money is if it is a controlled substance you have to go back to them for a prescription.

Is there a generic for Skyrizi? I don't think there is.

Fixed cost? Bottles, labels, pharmacist, computer software, technicians, cashiers? Hmmmm

Go to the companies website and get their copay card for the drug. Its probably $0 if the drug is covered by your insurance.
