Is the 1958 banner coming down?

Auburn says they won it.

Dude, everyone knows that Auburn was awarded the championship that season by the organization known as the “Montgomery Full Season Championship.”

Auburn has one of the worst cases of little man’s syndrome in existence. Nothing they say would ever make me worry. Just pat them on the head and say “really good effort”. Seems to be all they really need to hear.

It'll just be weird to see the banner for 1958 flying in each stadium.

Just claim one of theirs and call it even. Who gives AF

They can have 2004, but don’t mess with 1958!

Ol Miss claims a SEC Championship when they shared it with LSU.

2003? They hung a banner

I mean LSU did win the AP title in 58, which didn’t count in 03.

It may seem counterintuitive, but the Bama fans have it even worse.

Hell no!
Lets look common opponents. Bama, Kentucky, Florida and MSU. LSU Scored 62 points and gave up 23. Auburn score 61 points and gave up 27. Advantage LSU or worse case a push. Non-common SEC opponents by SEC finish. LSU beat the the #3 team Ole Miss and #11 Tulane. Auburn beat the #5 SEC Tennessee and #10 Georgia. Auburn ties the #9 team Georgia Tech. That same Ga Tech team had 4 losses that year. Advantage LSU. ACC opponents. LSU beat Duke who was #3 teams ACC Conference finish and #1 team Clemson in Sugar Bowl. Auburn beat #5 Maryland and #6 Wake Forest. Advantage LSU. Not sure why Auburn thinks they can claim this title. Advantage goes to LSU.

That's way too many words for LSU ranked higher in the SEC and nationally than Auburn that year

The fact that some of our fans think this is acceptable is truly disturbing.
This was a disgraceful and despicable act by Auburn and an attack on the State of Louisiana.
LSU’s 1958 team revolutionized college football with the platoon system. The team was dominant defensively and went undefeated against a tough schedule.
Auburn finished no higher than 4th in the polls in ‘58.
This is stolen valor by Auburn.

I think Golden Flake gave them the award as well.

Oh it's deliberate. They know who finished AP #1 in 1958. The claim is from a "minor" selector, not recognized by the NCAA. As bad as say Alabama is, at least all Alabama's are backed up by the NCAA. It's just whether a school claims them or not. But nobody claims a selector not recognized. Until Auburn.
