I’m encouraged by the way both played honestly. Too many people are trying to create controversy at the QB position, but the real focus of frustration should be the o line and running game.
If you want any young QB to succeed you need a strong o line and a run game. Both games now our first team o line has looked like shite. Particularly ruiz.

Even PFF knows that the Rattler fanboys are retarded lol

I’m gonna have to study the 53 man roster before the regular season. Idk who half those guys are.

Law of averages you moron. He had twice as many attempts and an INT.
No sacks, more rushing yards and TDs though. Oh btw Shough has an 86.8 QBR in the preseason and Rattler’s QBR is 89.2. Shough’s QBR against Jags was 87.5 and Rattler’s was 95.7.

Spot on. This offense will go as far as the run game does.

If McCoy comes in week 1 and the oline & running game start clicking, just give him the team MVP award on the spot

This is a refreshing take, and honestly I felt this way for a long time.
But, people out here acting like we expecting the next Jayden/Borrow type play.
I dont think it matters who starts this year. HOnestly, I belive what you say, we will only go as far as the O-Line plays, then the defense. Unless you have a Daniels your not elevating any WR play on this roster.

Sad thing is how many of you strictly get caught up in stats. Evaluation goes well beyond that. Reads, execution, leadership, mentality, grit, etc.
It's not difficult for me to realize who is better suited to QB for the here and now

Fuaga had a few bad snaps on Sunday. Surprised he graded so high.

You might want to read their report on the game
quote:
It remains difficult to say who has pulled ahead in the New Orleans Saints‘ quarterback competition, but Spencer Rattler seemed to do his part in moving one step closer to securing the job. The second-year quarterback made three big-time throws — becoming just the third passer to do so in a game this preseason — and was at the forefront of the Saints' game-tying drive against the Jacksonville Jaguars. His foe, Tyler Shough, looked like a rookie at times but also made a big-time throw himself. The 17-17 result won't have much bearing on the Jaguars, but they did get a strong showing out of starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence and positive work from their top three running backs, Trevor Etienne, Tank Bigsby and Bhayshul Tuten. On the other side of the ball, Saints cornerback Rejzohn Wright broke up two passes and Jaguars cornerback Keni-H Lovely picked off Rattler in the fourth quarter.

We have 2 young quarterbacks. Why are you rooting against one of them?

Anyone claiming either has proven he is the starter isn't watching the same games. Neither has been great, both have made some plays, both have looked awful and made mistakes, both have been under duress behind an incomplete line where pressure is constantly coming up the middle, especially for whichever QB starts the game and faces the better players on defense (and the stats both games bears that out).
This competition is about as wide open as it can get, and I'm not really saying that in a good way. I think Shough has shown more long term promise, while Rattler has shown some ability to navigate the game better.

I wonder how much of this is new blocking scheme and new plays.
I guess we’ll find out if it still looks like shite by week 6.

McCoy has yet to play and Penning was out last game.
We have seen in the past how bad our line is without McCoy, so we NEED him healthy all year. He isn't out with a specific injury right now. They are just choosing to rest him, which almost makes this entire "competition" meaningless because neither can really get anything done behind this line without him.

I would love to have the Drew Brees/Philip Rivers conundrum

I am no rooting against anyone. I was cheering for Rattler during the game and I believe he had a decent game.
What I am tired of is segments of the fanbase being unreasonable about Rattler and attacking anyone that dares criticize him. I am tired of those people acting like he is prime Drew…..when he hasn’t done shite.

Come on he was better. The whole team rallied around him and they tied the game. Slough man played with the 1st team they gave him every advantage in that game.
