I used to enjoy fishing out of that place. I read now that it is closed and now inhabited by Vietnamese oyster fishermen. It seemed like they had a pretty thriving family business.

If I remember correctly, it turned into Boudreaux’s marina. Then the oil spill happened, made a bunch of money and got out.

Makes sense. When people live in a hotel for any amount of time, it tends to just get destroyed. Of course it has probably been 20 years since I have been there, so it would probably be pretty tired anyway.

Used to have some good times there. After a day of fishing, there was a good restaurant that you could get a beer and some good food.

IIRC Naomi and Bill Seeber sold it to Boudreaux after Bill passed away. Naomi, i believe just passed away recently. Boudreaux ran it very well for quite a while. We sold our camp right after the oil spill, so I don't know what happened after that. I'm sure Johnny Glover still has his mega-plex down there. It's a shame all that land is disappearing so fast down there.

Benny Cenac bought the Coco Marina and made it awesome.

Yes he did. Ramps are great for offshore boats, barge for bait/fuel/ice,restaurant is solid, bar stays open late, live music, lodging is nice, pool, etc. I can only imagine how much money he put into it.

Negative, he sold out to Billionaire Benny Cenac. He poured millions into it and has it looking really good.

From a very reliable source he has over 7mil into it not counting the original purchase price.

Agreed. I know Benny isn't the most admired fella in the world, but his efforts with Coco Marina are admirable.

Correct Boudreaux's Marina owned by the Boudreaux family. Oil spill was beneficial as BP kept the bunk rooms full and the restaurant serving. But after that I know it was hard to keep the restaurant aflot. Hard to find consistent work down there and the family/kids were getting busy with school and their own lives. Cocodrie can be pretty dead in the off season so I'm sure it was hard to keep the restaurant busy and make it worth it - something Benny Cenac can afford to overcome with his check book at CoCo.

I belive the oyster guys that bought the place offered Mr. Boudreaux a price he couldn't pass up.

Boy that was a pretty place though. Many memories sitting at the restaurant overlooking the marsh as the sun was setting after a day of fishing. Doesn't get much prettier than that.

Yes, that's the spirit. Screw this clean, well-maintained, launch with working amenities. "I want the old smelly, dirty, gross shithole I used to bitch about years ago with dead fish and garbage floating in the boat slip!"

Crowded or not, give me a clean, well -maintained facility over the typical dumps usually encountered in S. Louisiana in the past.

All I see is more people, a disappearing coastline and more fishing pressure.
Different strokes for different folks I guess. I liked it with less people is all.

That being said, it is a very nice place.

Man, that’s what I remember as well. Always enjoyed the company of the Seeber family as well.

I smell what you're stepping in.

More people wouldn't be bad if people had any marina sense at all, and coco isn't as bad as some other ones (looking at you Hopedale marina).

It seems that the further you get from new Orleans, the higher the average boat IQ gets.
