Cats vs Dogs

Who has the weirder owners?
For a long time the general consensus was that cat owners were some strange folks and the stereotype of the "crazy cat lady" was well-founded. In addition to the crazy cat lady was the incel who's only pet was usually a cat.
Fast forward to present day and we have "dog moms", fur babies, rescue vs breeder fights and just general craziness as seen in this video:
Have dog owners caught up with cat owners in terms of craziness and/or potentially surpassed them? I am sure we all have anecdotal tales of people bringing their dogs into places where they shouldn't but I personally have yet to see someone bring their cat into a public place.

There was a time when bringing a dog into an establishment meant you were either blind or in a wheelchair.
The amount of people that feel entitled to bring their animals into stores is ridiculous.

You never see anyone bring a cat into a grocery store.

this annoys me to no end. Leave your fricking pet at home when you go to any retail establishment not Petco, Petsmart, or Tractor Supply.

They had a cat show at my high school gym. I worked the concession stand. Those cat people were some of the weirdest motherfrickers I have ever come across.

Dog owners definitely. Grocery stores, hardware stores, restaurants....not just toy breeds but large dogs too. Definitely the trashier end of the dog owner spectrum too.
Also, I picked this little guy off the side of I-40W last Friday evening.
Getting him checked out by the vet today, hopefully a clean bill of health outside of the fact he is deaf as a fence post.
ETA: FIV & FeLV negative, he's healthy so as soon as his other test results come in we'll see how the rest like him (probably not much at first but they'll get over it in a few days).

I'm starting to think allergies will qualify you for a service dog. I see them everywhere now.

Yeah, had just left on a regular trip to Shreveport and barely got 20 minutes down the road before I saw him. Didn't run, just laid down at first then came right up, purred the instant I picked him up so probably dumped. We have cats and a small dog already but shouldn't be a problem getting this one integrated.

People who bring their dogs to stores and restaurants are the absolute worst. I love my dogs but they don't need to accompany me in public.

You don’t see people taking their cat on planes, in restaurants etc. support animal, my arse

This is a thing now? I don't eat out much so I guess I've avoided it thus far, but man WTF.
Those dog people have handedly surpassed the cat people as the worst pet owners. Cat people were always weird but at least their weird in their own world and not weirding it up for the rest of us.
Dogs aint people.

There's a difference in a legit service dog and an emotional support animal (ESA). I've been getting a lot of requests to sign letters for ESAs, with people wanting to take them to stores, on planes, etc. I refer them out.

Very popular in Seattle certainly. I was there a few months ago, went to a coffee shop and probably at least 5 - 6 tables with dogs near them. As I was leaving another person was watching their dog pinch a loaf on the side walk while chatting on the phone. Probably left it there too.

Is awesome. One of my dream occupations after I get very wealthy and don't need to work anymore is training real service dogs.

One of the most beautiful things I have ever seen is this older gent who walks around town with his seeing eye dog. He's totally mobile with his dog, and constantly talks to him. The dog is very young, still maturing but if there are real angels on this earth, that dog is one. Crosses multiple intersections and never has a problem.
