For anyone who went through it… how accurate was it?

Terrible seeing what they went through.

The first two episodes were interesting while the last three were about how white people didn’t want to rescue black people, how white people were indiscriminately shooting black people, and how black people were innocent, strong, hard working, church goers. Oh, and there’s climate change sprinkled in as well.

Nagin looked high as f and clearly above his head
Blanco was a disaster
Honore thought he was very important
No Kanye bit so that was surprising

Agreed.

Love
The lady in the last episode saying a 2 x 4 costs the same, so why did she get less than so and so (white people)

Probably bc it takes a lot more 2x4s to build a
Bigger house back . Lol

Yes, and that natural disasters are racist because they affect minorities more than white affluent people living in Lakeview.

I wonder if they showed all the volunteers with boats going out to save everyone and many nola "residents" pulling knifes on them and trying to steal everything off the boat and what not.

Was living on south side of BR at the time. I remember in the first few days after Katrina LocalTalk radio hosts encouraging people with a spare room to go to one of the shelters and take in a family. 2 weeks later the same hosts were like “When are these people going home?” It really did flip that fast.

Céline Dion crying about letting the looters just touch stuff (tv, liquor, high end sneakers, etc…) for once in their lives is all time cringe.

That’ll always stick out to the absurd reaction of how the media portrayed the aftermath & how naturally the celebrity class overreacted.

and the location of that 2x4 makes that 2x4 more valuable later on.

The documentary and the reality typically never match up. While everyone was playing political football, neighbors were doing everything to help others. Politics be damned.

It's surprising until you remember that the left and wokesters turned on him years ago. They couldn't possibly put his "George Bush hates black people" bit in, even if they agreed with it.

I thought it was interesting…but yes it was very slanted if not disingenuous in parts.

They went out of their way to say there was no rapes, murderers, shootings, violent lootings, or thugs out on the streets shooting at cops and helicopters. Went out of their way to say the majority of the looting was for survival. And that white mobs were hunting down blacks on the west bank to murder them.

Other than that, the doc was good.

I would rally like to see a documentary on the science of the storm. The storm development, conditions, wind, water. Pretty much everything except politics and racism.

It was an incredible storm and struck in the perfect spot to cause havoc.

I would have liked to see some coverage of the complete destruction of the western mississippi coastline. Too white I guess.

What they were complaining about is that location made that 2x4 more valuable at payout.
Homes in black neighborhoods got less per square foot due to lower property values.

quote:

Under the terms of the Road Home program, rebuilding grants are calculated based on the lower of two figures: the pre-storm market value of the home, or the cost to repair the storm damage to the home.

quote:

Consider two identical New Orleans homes, each with three bedrooms and two baths. Both homes are of brick construction and flooded with six feet of water during Hurricane Katrina. The only substantial difference is that the home in the white neighborhood is worth approximately $150,000 while the home in the black neighborhood is worth approximately $90,000. The estimated repair cost for each of the homes is approximately $150,000. The homeowner in the white neighborhood would receive $150,000 in assistance while in the black neighborhood would receive only $90,000.

Courts found it unconstitutional but by then most of the money was spent

They did throw that footage in with the white giys talking about shooting anybody that moves, etc.

Probably just shite talk g like 99% of us do when we had a few with a couple buddies.

But I don’t doubt they did shoot people, but not for the fun of it. Protecting their property, rightfully so
