Why does our offense have to be so one dimensional?

Pre JB we ran the ball and thats who we were

Now we pass the ball

We used to be known as a stable of running backs but one guy goes out and we are scratching our heads to find a number two back that can run between tackles

Some of yall have to relax. It's a camp report about 1 scrimmage where they were doing a bunch of direct snap/wildcat bullshite.

Just slow down and stop freaking out on Sunday mornings at 6am.

If we can protect Nuss then it will open up the run game exactly how we did with the RPO in 2019. If he can get the defense to back off a little bit then Durham has the speed and quickness to make them pay.

Calm down though, yall act like you want every report to be like we have the 07 patriots offense and 00 ravens defense.

If the report was we ran the ball extremely well you would have made a post whining about why can't we stop the run...

Thought experiment. What’s more one dimensional; The offense or your posts?

Unbelievable that you guys melt over this just barely into camp. Is it a cause for concern? Sure. Do we still have more than half of camp to work on this? Yes. I will melt when I see the same lack of running game when the real games start. If we were killing it running the ball right now, I'd also overlook that until the real games start. Bottom line is we don't know.

I do know this, if we can't run the ball with CD, and especially with our elite passing game, then something is wrong with the OL/RB coaches with technique/scheme. There is no way we shouldn't be able to run the ball with the explosive passing game we have, and what is likely to be an explosive deep passing game this year.

Last year we really couldn't do this because while we had solid recs, we didn't have any that could take the top off, with our injuries. Hilton came on late and showed a whole new level of explosiveness, and if he remains healthy, along with a couple more speedsters, I expect safeties to really back up this year...which will help the running game.

Teams generally emphasize one or the other as their primary mode of attack. There are two seasons in which a team has had a top-10 passing and rushing season at LSU.

2013
#6 Zach Mettenberger 3,082 yards
#4 Jeremy Hill 1,401 yards

2019
#1 Joe Burrow 5,671 yards
#3 Clyde Edwards-Helaire 1,414 yards

And when that’s who we were, we couldn’t sign an elite QB which is what you really need to win championships. The NFL has evolved into an QB league. QB’s want to develop in pass happy college systems. Adapt or die.

OK...I'll wait until 6 pm on Sunday from now on, after I read the rant for awhile

The rant is a place where people ask questions and express opinions. Yes some may lack thought or expertise. Some are self proclaimed experts, some intolerant, some who have nothing to do but criticize and put down others...it really is entertaining.

Alex Atkins was hired for a reason. Sloan and Hankins have both spent their entire careers dedicated to the passing game. Last year was Sloan mashing up his stuff with leftovers from Denbrock and it didn’t mesh. Now we have someone who’s known for their creativity in the run game using similar sets and style. Let’s see how much impact he has on the offense.

I'd just be happy if we added a second running play to our playbook.
I so much want LSU to show us something, anything DIFFERENT in our offense. It sure seems like we run the same plays almost exactly that we did in BK's first year. Maybe that is an exaggeration, but it sure seems the same.

Joe Sloan doesn't have a fricking clue how to scheme or teach the OL how to successfully block for a run game.

Where is Underwood again? Thought Sloan was delivering him.

Our OL is just not taught the intricacies of zone blocking. We will never know how good our backs are until the Oline can open some holes sometimes.
