I am going to do a long weekend in DC in early September. I will be staying in Georgetown. The itinerary one day is to go to an Orioles game and to get our fill of Maryland crab.

Any ideas on what else to do in Maryland?

As far as DC - I've done all the monuments and the Smithsonian museums a few times. Any less well known things to see in DC.

Thanks in advance for any input.

What specifically are you looking to do? I fly there every two months or so.

Fort McHenry
National Aquarium
Camden Yards (as you mentioned)
Annapolis [My vote as a must do]
B&O Railroad Museum
Top of the World Observation Level
Inner Harbor
G&M Restaurant has the best crab cakes in my opinion

For DC
Schedule a white house tour or a capital building tour with your congressman
Eat at Old Ebbit grill
National Building Museum
National Postal Museum
Holocaust Museum (must do if haven't)
Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens
Dumbarton Oaks

Spy museum. If you're a bit of a dork, there is also the cryptography museum at the CIA or NSA. The crypto museum isn't huge, but interesting. If you haven't hit Udvar-Hazy air and space museum, it's a very nice compliment to the one on the mall, as they have more space.

And a visit to the old State House. Unknown to many, it served as Capitol of the U.S for a short time. Its where GW resigned a commander of the continental army.

Baltimore- check out Fells Point. Streets are still old brick right on the water. Really cool old neighborhood with lots of shops & restaurants

Old Town Alexandria is worth a visit paired with a visit to Mount Vernon

Inner Harbor

It's worth walking through for views of the water but many of hte stores and restaurants over there have closed. There's a really cool area called Fell's Point with cobble stone streets, old houses, and cool bars and restaurants. That's where I'd go out for a night.

If you like air/space stuff, the Udvar-Hazy annex out by Dulles is awesome. I was flabbergasted the first time I saw the space shuttle in person. Side note, there's a biplane crop duster there with a Monroe, La registration and was Delta's first airplane.

"does anyone know why its not numbered 001"

Yes, the same reason you don't start a checkbook with 001..

I CANNOT wait to take my son here..Flew in and out of that area so many times and I still haven't seen everything there is to offer

If you haven't been to the National Archives in DC, put that on your list. Unless something has changed you didn't really have to go "inside" but walk through a little horseshoe shaped area to see original copies of the Declaration of Independence, Constitution and Bill of Rights.

In Baltimore I'd add the historic ships in the harbor and the Babe Ruth birthplace museum.
