World wide it is a well known fact that births are in decline below the level necessary to maintain current population replenishment at about 2.3 babies per couple.

Looking back at societal changes from the 1930's where families with ten or more children were common to current day it's readily apparent that cars and pickup trucks were a large part of the birthing process. Bench seats were pretty much the industry standard and when seat belts were mandated, an extra belt was located over the drive shaft. Having your girl friend or wife sitting up close promoted heated contact and the 8 foot long seat provided further contact.
Everything is a bucket seat today, and front buckets are as far away from each other as possible. How many have thought about how difficult it is to make physical contact at 70 mph.
Fix the need to have more babies by bringing back bench seats

Stick shifts and safety belts, bucket seats have all got to go.

Oh, I thought the birth rate problem was something like readily available birth control.

Who knew it was the lack of bench seats!

We have to stop destroying the purchasing power of the dollar if we want people to have more kids.

People weren't getting married and having 10 kids from sex they were having in a car.

A more relevant correlation might be the rise of television and home entertainment. There was more stuff to do at night for husbands and wives other than fricking.

my first car was a 1998 IQ infiniti and i swear I had more room to operate in that back seat than any SUV i’ve ever owned.

How removed from reality do you have to be to think it's bucket seats in cars that are causing the nation's declining birth rate, and not actual economic factors like purchasing power, stagnating wages, housing costs, daycare costs, etc.

I'd say a few other things that destroyed the birth rates moreso than bench seats going away:

-Cost of everything making it more difficult to afford more children
-Most women's delusions that they are all queens and deserve the 9 or 10 man instead of the 4 or 5 match that they are
-Our food supply making the nation of obese people - lack of attraction, lack of partners
-Feminism driving women to the workplace for a sense of "purpose" (and partly related to the first bullet here)

This absolutely goes both ways. I personally have 3-4 friends who have been and will mostly stay single because they refuse to settle for anyone actually in their league.

It's not a "sense of purpose" to want to be able to build up your own life for a soft landing in case things go sideways with a marriage. Divorce was far less common back then not because they got along better - women just had no other financial options than to stay with their husband regardless of circumstance.
