With the opening day of college football, has there been a better opening day of games? Ohio State-Texas, Clemson-LSU, ND-Miami……play each other right off the bat. This is a monster opening day this season.

Texas, Clemson, and ND. LSU won’t be able to handle Death Valley… sorry it’s true

The 2010s when the neutral site games were huge there were always some big games week 1. It looks like those have mostly gone absolete. Good to see campuses getting these big games again

On paper, it looks awesome. Let's hope it lives up to the hype.

“Opening Day”

It’s really a whole weekend.

Friday has Auburn-Baylor & Coach Prime vs GA Tech

ND-Miami is Sunday
Belichick vs TCU on Monday

I think this may be best opening day on Saturday, but maybe not the best Labor Day weekend 3 days of football

in 2016 we got USC/Bama, Clemson/Auburn, UGA/UNC, Houston(when they were good with Herman)/OU all on Saturday

Sunday we got Texas/ND
Monday we got FSU/Ole Miss

EDIT: In 2016 Thurs/Friday we also got Minnesota/Oregon St, South Carolina/Vandy, Stanford/Kansas State and Colorado/CSU rivalry game

I only picked that year because I recalled Texas/ND being the Sunday or Monday night game

This year the monday game is TCU/UNC. Sunday night is Miami/ND and we also get VT/USCe on Sunday (I like 2 games on Sunday for sure)

.

Even the Friday night games of Auburn/Baylor and GT at Colorado are good.

There also used to be stuff like the kickoff classic and pigskin classic that featured some really good early season games but those went away by the late 90s. I liked when they tried to bring those back with the neutral site games.

There have been worse. Games that could be fun.

Boise State at South Florida
East Carolina at NC State
Nebraska at Cincinnati

This is a good call. Maybe it needs to be expanded to the 5 days from Thursday - Monday.

When I did 2016 I did not look for Thurs/Fri will edit now

The only problem is 3/4 of the season is over before those cool weather days happen, usually.
