Why is this “phrase” still used? Teams are outright paying HS seniors. Please explain to me how a kid in HS gets NIL money vs outright having deposits made into their account. I really don’t care, but it’s like schools don’t want to admit it. Kinda like the phrase “student/athlete”

You're somehow comparing/conflating the reason for the payments with the method of payment. And it's dumb.

Well, as of July 1 of this year, schools can, directly, pay athletes, soooo...

If you're talking about before that, then the payments did not come from the University, but a "collective".

All NIL deals outside of the revenue share have to go through an NCAA clearing house and if they aren’t commensurate with market value they aren’t allowed, but whatever you say man

NIL and direct payment (via revenue share) to players are technically different things. However, in reality, the schools are using NIL as a direct payment to players.

This is the giant cluster frick we are in that is only about to get worse.

You can continue denying it while I’ll continue to be right about what’s happening as I have from the beginning.

Denying what? That it’s pay for play like literally anything else in this country ?

That the false definition of NIL was always just a marketing tool to sell gullible fans.

The “definition” of NIL just changed if that’s how you want to go about it so you aren’t really making a good point

It didn’t change, perception has changed because the cat is now out of the bag. The original argument was a fabrication to sell fans

As of last month, the schools can pay players directly and each athletic department basically has a $20.5M salary cap that they can divide as they choose between various sports.

3rd party NIL deals now have to go through an NCAA clearing house that'll review to make sure the NIL deal has a valid business purpose and its value is fair market and that they're truly NIL deals and not pay-for-play disguised as NIL.

Dear NCAA,
None of us will ever buy a product or service because a college athlete is on the advertising.

NIL is legalized bribery. Nothing more nothing less.
