For those of you unfamiliar, “Third Man Syndrome” is when someone who usually enters a near-death or survival scenario has a feeling of being helped out of that situation.

They can either hear voices that tell them what to do or feel something guide them out of the situation.

One of the more well-known instances of Third Man Syndrome was what Dale Earnhardt Jr. experienced when he crashed at Sonoma

Earnhardt is clearly seen climbing out of the wreck himself, but he swears that his late father helped pull him out. One of his crew members who got to him first after the wreck recalls Earnhardt asking him to “find the man” that pulled him out.

Anyone here experience something similar to this?

no but one time my fricking campagnolo shite-arse compenents mishifted the chain off on a climb at a paritcularly key part of a race and a racer gassed from a previous race rode up and pushed me enough that i was able to get the chain back on without dismounting and stay in the pack

thats all i got but that seemed like a miracle at the time as i was about to get dropped

He meant third man syndrome as in being saved in a near death experience, not like being a cuck cyclist

I thought the title read "Third Leg Syndrome", then the spirit of my dead uncle pointed out my error.

A friend of mine was in an awful car wreck and shattered his femur. A woman came and sat and talked with him until the EMTs showed up. He asked if she was still there so he could thank her before they put him in the ambulance. Of course, there was no such woman on the scene or witnessed anywhere near it.

Uhh - not sure if this counts

But when we were on the road traveling years ago - my second child had a seizure of some sort and my oldest yelled, “Mama, something is wrong!”

I turned around and my child was blue - but a voice calmly told me to tell my husband to pull over - so I told him, then the voice told me to tell my husband to flash the lights - so I did

Then a policeman appeared out of nowhere - asked what was wrong - looked at my kid and said ‘get in my car’

So we got in and he u-turned on the neutral ground, radioed to the hospital that he was coming in a police car with a sick child - and we got there in about 5 minutes

The ER staff met us at the door and put my son on a stretcher, rolled him to a room, and started doing tests, the policeman stayed with me until my husband got there with the other kids - my son had a 106 fever - when I turned around to thank the policeman he was gone.

I called the police department of the town the next day to see if they could tell me who it was on the interstate or matched my description of the guy - and they said they didn’t have any officers on the interstate the day before and not any of their officers matched that description.

So you, your husband, and other children experienced this cop? I think it qualifies.

Edited:....and the ER!

My uncle got in a really bad motorcycle accident when he was like 20 years old and claims that a priest helped him until an ambulance got there, but there's no proof that a priest was ever there.

I laughed, and I’m a cyclist. Not a good one, but I’m a cyclist.

My pops was a state trooper/undercover in the wild west of Louisiana that was the early 70s. He and his partner took on gunfire busting down a gang/drug house in Lafayette in the early 70s, and his partner was shot and killed. Not black gangs, but rather the motorcycle outlaw drug running type… Think Dennis Hopper from Easy Rider, but running large amounts of drugs from Texas…

Old man swears (and testified in church) when the gang member turned to shoot him, a gloved black hand appeared out of nowhere, attached to nothing else, and moved the gun just enough for the shot to miss and my dad to take cover. Over the course of that week he was 25-years-old and involved in three separate gunfights. It was a unique season of his life.

Nah each near death for me is just instant lights out followed by waking up to chaos and panicky people over me

Marvin should have told your pops there was a guy behind the door with a goddamned hand-cannon.
