I’ve started the wire after all the praise it has gotten on this board. Idk if it’s me or the show, but I’m 7 episodes into the first season and I find it to be very boring and slow paced. Does it pick up any, or is that how the show is?

Maybe it just isnt for you. IMO, first season of Wire is some of the best television out there.

Its a good show but its not gonna amaze you in any way. Theres better stuff out there. The wire is very good at what it does, but its still just a crime/legal soap opera with a more serious tone.
The biggest 'badass' in the show is a fig. The best actor is young vince and friday night lights is a better version of him and a better show.

This is one of the best shows start to finish ever made. It’s probably just not for you, which is totally fine.

The Wire literally changed television story telling. I agree there is better stuff out there (now), but simply writing it off as a serious toned soap opera is just showing your ignorance.

The wire is definitely better than the last of us s2.

Taste is subjective but I loved it, although I didn’t watch it for several years after the initial run, and have rewatched at least a few times. I always recommend watching with headphones because you really feel the street with all the ambient sounds and chatter.

Its not an action show. Its almost totally character driven. If you don't like character driven shows, then you might not like it. There is a lot of dialogue. I think its one of if not the best show of all time.

The Wire is consistently ranked as the greatest TV show of all time and especially of the 21st century. And again, changed story telling in television as a whole. S1 is arguably the best season.
The Last of Us, safe to say, is not going to go down as one of the GOATS and isn't changing how story telling is done.
This isn't some stubborn/hot take, it's actually a freezing cold take.
