This is the newest hot-off-the-presses thing from the liberals and they are outraged.

What is this all about?

I don't expect any honest answers from any of the promoted links on Google.

Who here can educate me on what exactly is going on here?

ETA- now the facts are out. The lawn was replaced with a stone patio, not "pavement". The roses remain, in fact more were added. The rose garden was not paved over, this is fake news. Continue reading through this topic for citations, pics, and opinions.

I beg your pardon
I never promised you a rose garden

Here's an Architectural Digest piece on it, it isn't bad.

Architectural Digest

quote:

The president explained in an interview with Fox’s Laura Ingraham in March that he wanted to give the space, which sits just outside his Oval Office, “a gorgeous stone” patio experience.

“You know, we use [the Rose Garden] for press conferences, and it doesn’t work because the people fall…. It just didn’t work,” he said, citing the wet terrain and “women with the high heels.”

He expressed that “the roses stay,” and that “it’s just the center section” of the garden that would get an overhaul.

Blast from the past. I believe Lynn Anderson had a hit with that song in the early to mid 70's

Pretty gauche but not something I overly care about.

In terms of aesthetics, the ballroom looks much worse.

Trump is making much needed improvements around the Rose Garden which will also increase the safety of those walking around that area. Seems like a reasonable project.

Bit extreme to get rid of all of the lawn there. But, the practical use is fair.

No doubt. Anyone who is melting over this is simply allowing their TDS to go untreated....they love the feeling of constant anger and anxiety, makes them feel alive.
