When i was there 30 days ago Vegas was packed
The days of the poors flooding Vegas for free drinks and cheap buffets are for sure over
They are moving to entertainment over gambling. The Wynn is packed at all times. They need to blow up hotels like Luxor and Excalibur and replace them put up luxury apartments

$25/minimum bets at the nicer hotels are killing Vegas.

$20 bottle waters, $40 parking, $500 shows, no more “free cocktails” while playing… the list goes on and on where they are nickeling and diming every single thing you do in that town
I also watched another video that came up after this one where the local off strip casinos and downtown Las Vegas numbers are through the roof and they are all thriving like never before
People are truly boycotting the main strip casinos and resorts

I was never that big a fan of Vegas, even when it was cheap.
Now, it’s like a craven adult version of Disneyland, and I don’t mean that as a compliment. Stupidly expensive to eat and drink there, I’m not a big concert or show guy, and gambling is absolutely not an interest.
I appreciate the spectacle of the place on a pure eye-candy level, but it has zero appeal to me for a place to spend time and money.

Back in the 70s, 80s, and 90s, hotels were relatively inexpensive and food was cheap. They had a few high-end restaurants, but most of the restaurants were very reasonable.
The whole point was just to get people there to gamble. Vegas survived on gambling revenue.
At some point, that all changed. Now, everything is so outrageously expensive that people don’t want to go there just to also lose money gambling. Not to mention that every local worker believes that they are entitled to massive f*cking tips.

So basically the off strip and downtown casinos are thriving like never before because they have stuck to the old Vegas mentality while the new shiny casinos are struggling because they have to pay all of that overhead

It looks like from the OP video that many of the workers are now living under the bridges.

Only reason I go to Vegas anymore is for tradeshows. We stay on the strip due to venue and restaurants. Uber to old Vegas to gamble.

Vegas is still using COVID losses as an excuse for massively overcharging everything. Also, they’ve made it much harder to win, be it table games, slots or video poker. Let’s not even get started on resort fees.

That thread title is probably like a Sunday morning Bat signal to the Panicans.

I love the scent of weed in the hallways of Excalibur. That's part of the charm.

They took away free parking. They took away cheap buffets. They took away all the budget resorts.
They priced 95% of regular Americans out and wonder wtf happened.
It used to cater to both high rollers and joe six pack, they decided they didn't need or want the middle class and are paying the price.
And yes, apparently the % of money they make via gambling is at an all time low. They make more money on all the other shite now.

There was definitely something to be said for the way the mafia ran Vegas. It was an entirely different business model. A large part of Vegas was dedicated to laundering the mob's money. In that way, they didn’t have to make “more traceable“ money off of hotels and food and other amenities.
Once Wall Street came in, the business model changed. Now it’s all about making money whether it comes from gambling or charging outrageous prices for everything. The big question is whether or not that model is sustainable.

Las Vegas being outrageously expensive is what’s killing Las Vegas.

Gee, I hate it for them. I guess they are missing the golden years under Biden.

As I posted on the travel board
Its a number of things, but the biggest is the cost these days. Theres a guy on IG named Pauly C who's out there and gives a lot of insider info and insight into things. Like Caeser's being bought or the construction of Resorts World with international investors completely screwing the pooch. Caesers stock has gone from 127 in 2021 to 30 bucks currently.
IMO, the boom just as Covid was hitting and then the bottoming of prices during covid, inviting the total trash in, was the start of the decline. The common customers were run off and then these new/purchased casinos changed operating models and focused on high rollers, basically blocking any chance of those bread and butter customers coming back.

As a vacation destination Vegas is about as unappealing as you can get. Casinos are loud and sad. And I generally like loud. At least they still have the hot hookers.
