New biopic w Momoa about the birth of Hawaii. First two episodes dropped in true Apple fashion. But man really good. Momoa’s role of lifetime.

Don't waste your time unless you really believe someone can wrangle a shark with a rope and bare hands and you like looking at Jason Manoa's arse...not that there's anything wrong with that.

I would love to see a Game of Thrones style series on the chiefdoms as they discovered, battled, and expanded through the islands. Spin-off series could be contact with Europeans through US territory.

That'd be kinda boring. Tribe A meets Europeans. Tribe A dies. Tribe B meets Europeans. Tribe B dies.

Is this about Kamehameha? I hope they don't try to make him some heroic figure. The guy was a snake.

That part is very much true. The show starts off slow, but picks up pretty quickly. I watched both episodes last night and I am excited for episode 3.

He's going to be in it, but so far the main antagonist has been King Kahekili.

This is awesome and it’s getting rave reviews for its authenticity. I’m glad they weren’t scared to make the whole thing in Hawaiin language. Might unseat MOBLAND for series of the year for me so far

It’s amazing so far.
He was good in See too but they failed him with the supporting cast.

There is some very predictable roll your eyes moments, but overall it has been outstanding two episodes in. Mamoa is killing this role. Need more titties though

I saw this was out and started it. It was kind of a slog to get through the first two episodes with the subtitles. I usually watch TV with subtitles anyway to make sure I don't miss anything but it's completely different when the show is entirely in a different language. Glad I powered through because it gets better, the story is starting to become pretty engaging, and the scenery/set/costume design is fantastic. I'm learning a lot about Hawaiian history just by pausing the show and Googling things I see that look interesting. It's very well done, you can tell this was a passion project for Momoa.

The next episode (ep. 5) should be really, really good and I can’t wait.

That was wild. Of course, had never seen this, so stopped the show and went down a rabbit hole.

I'm assuming the slide used in the show was this one, that is still there and now has a street running through it

Here's more info about them, pretty interesting!
