Dems will gain seats in the Texas delegation in 2026

I don't know who this "they" is you're referring to, because even in the redraw, the 18th and 9th CDs will remain solid blue. In these, areas of Sugar Land, Missouri City, and Pearland which are becoming increasingly Democratic with each election cycle are included in the redraw. I don't know about the other districts being redrawn.

The danger in gerrymandering is that if there is a shift in voter turnout or voting habits the dominant party runs the risk of losing more seats than they normally would because their expected advantage in each individual district is lower.

For example you could gerrymander so that instead of republicans having a 65-35 advantage in three districts they could have a 55-45 advantage in 5 districts.

If dems turn out in large numbers in 2028 and republicans don’t they dema could end up winning a lot of seats in Texas.

I read five in mostly south texas.

Some notably radical leftist gone
Al Greene from houston
Henry Cuellar from rio grande - san antonio

All five districts are predicted R by 10 points, but that's going to depend on the candidate.

A Texas state House panel on Saturday advanced proposed congressional maps that aim to make the Lone Star State’s district lines even friendlier to Republicans.

The Texas House Select Committee on Congressional Redistricting voted to advance a set of maps that would give Republicans five more pick-up opportunities ahead of 2026 and would impact lawmakers in the Dallas-Forth, Austin, Houston and Rio Grande Valley areas.

With an 88-62 GOP majority in the state House, the maps are expected to pass the lower chamber easily.

Democrats are also weighing their options for mid-cycle redistricting in blue states as a response. California is seriously considering several options – either through a ballot initiative or through the state legislature – to redraw its maps.

Democratic governors in New York, New Jersey and Illinois are leaving the door open to considering redrawing their maps.

You have to think that cleaning up voter rolls is going to help R's as well. If that happens, how many seats D's lose because they were counting on data based on fraud to redraw districts?.

You don’t know a thing about any of the maps being drawn and Democrats have been chasing that unicorn for decades

Agreed. I don't really get excited about gerrymandering--it tends to backfire in wave elections that go the other way. And if you want to win a House seat, you need to win the people in your district over, no matter who they are. Adjust your campaign/positions accordingly, and maybe learn something in the process from the people you want to represent. Or win the state government the same way and draw the map the way you want. As long as the number of people in each district is approximately the same, it doesn't strike me as too undemocratic. The same goes for Democrats who gerrymander states where they control the state government.

Disagree. Keep the ghetto bitch in office as a rising voice of the dem party.

I think black fatigue is real and she is the personification of loud, entitled and unqualified black women so many people have to deal with.

Remind everyone with common sense the results of DEI.

I've heard that on conservative talk radio while flipping the dial; don't know if it's true at all. What I do know is that Republicans in Texas are making all the wrong moves to maintain their edge. This drive to ban sales of CBD and all cannabinoids, even if medically approved, drives a wedge between local legislators and their voters, especially veterans. And Trump's "big, beautiful bill" is rapidly removing Texans from Medicaid and shuttering hospitals in rural counties statewide. And many Texans fear ICE due to their zeal in removing immigrants, even naturalized citizens.

The edit: precedent this would set, where it is ok to gerrymander congressional districts every election cycle, is shitty
