I was born in the 90’s, were the 80’s and 90’s truly the best time to be alive?

People are always saying that these were the golden years or the American economy and technology had not taken over society. I never experienced it but only as a child.
Was this the best time to be alive?

The last 6-months have been pretty great. Definitely big 80s vibes since late January.

On balance I’d say yes. Of course there are some things that a better about the present and pre-80s, but in general that was probably the best era.

Don't forget the 70's. It's what set up the 80/90's. Especially R & R.

Yesteryear is always favorable over the current time period since we eventually forget all the bad shite that happened during those years but the one thing that stands out to me is that the majority of people were not infatuated with politics. I yearn for the time when people didn't excommunicate you due to your political leanings and we kept that shite to ourselves.

Yes… but I imagine everyone thinks their own growing up years were the best.
‘82 vintage, here. Walked, skated, biked everywhere and was only governed by streetlights. Almost all my teachers were middle to old age and didn’t rub up on the students.

My vote goes to the 50's. They were followed by the tumultuous 60's with the Cuban Missile Crises, JFK's assassination, protests about the war in Nam, civil rights marches and violence, MLK's assassination and finally RFK's assassination.
Also the birth and eventual death of the "Hippy Movement" when one Charles Manson had his minions kill 7 people over a 2 night period, thus being instrumental in ending the so called "Summer of Love".

I think it was peak and been downhill. If you look at the decades this century, there's nothing distinguishable about them. Just a mix of older decades.
In the 1900s you can see/say what that decades style was. This century is just blah. Which I grew up in so kind of sad to say we are t just creative at all.

It’s not that it was best but in many areas the last time of innocence.. suburbia was still holding onto freedom that allowed children to explore and get into mischief without it being considered a capital offense.. technology was growing but still in its infancy so we were forced to interact in a much different way.

You had to know how to entertain yourself a little more but it worked out.

Im biased as I grew up in that era but yeah it was pretty great aside from the astounding murder numbers of the early to mid 90s. The technology boom makes it the greatest era on record imo. Also the last great era as its been nothing but downhill since. Also due to technology. The gift and the curse.

Born in the 70's and I can tell you it was light years better than anything after 2000
