Espn 30 for 30 about the dream team at the Olympics is on. What an amazing team they were. Nice to see those guys young again.

That era of sports was just so much purer than now and frankly just better.

Im not playing

I want better teammates

Load management

Egregious traveling and carrying that would make Iverson blush.

Foul, foul, foul (except for the stars)

Nba sucks. Boring as wnba, soccer and flag football.

I would put that dream team up against any team crafted of modern players and Jordan's Dream Team would destroy them.

It’s amazing how much talent the subsequent teams have had since DT1 but how different those teams perform just based on leadership. Some of them look like hollow shells, going through the motions. Others have life to them and positive energy that easy to see. DR1 had the most cohesive fabric even though some of the aging players weren’t at their peaks anymore.

The part where they are training maybe in Monaco and MJ is playing like 36 holes then smoking everyone on the court and HOFers are legit saying "I couldn't keep up with this guy at all".

That is when I knew he was the GOAT and until I see something like that again I won't ever say someone is better

Depends on if it’s modern defensive rules or early 90s.

And keep in mind Magic and Bird were an half step away from retirement and they only had one PG because Jordan blackballed Isiah Thomas.

The matchups would be:
Curry > Magic (old)
SGA < Jordan
KD > Bird (old)
LeBron / Davis = Barkley / Malone
Embiid = Robinson

Now the dream team with Shaq instead of Laetner or from 1988 when Bird & Magic were still in their prime and didn’t hate Thomas would easily handle the modern team with the only advantage for the ‘24 team being three point range which the 88/92 team had virtually none of outside of Bird.

John Stockton being able to walk around Europe basically unnoticed was hilarious.

They better hope their jumpers and threes are falling because they'll be getting dunked on every time the Dream Team has the ball.

I hate John Stockton and The Jazz but the stories about his anonymity in Barcelona are epic.

I would bet a paycheck Pippen would be getting lots of playing time to lock someone up on D

Pippen was running that offense by the end for them.

I watched the games on YouTube and Pippen led the team in assists and was PG in all but name by the end because Magic & Stockton (as well as Bird) had hit the wall.

Barkley led in scoring but without Pippen at the end im not sure that offense is anything close to what it was.

The dream team by minutes played was:

Pippen
Jordan
Mullin
Drexler
Barkley

Im partial to the 92 Dream Team myself, but the 96 team might have been better...
(Bird and Magic were way past their prime)
Essentially the same core but you lost MJ. And replace him with Shaq, Hakeem, Reggie Miller, Gary Payton, and Grant Hill.

Was Hakeem not a US citizen yet? I get putting Robinson on the team but Ewing over Dream just doesn't jive well in my estimation unless the team was selected when Dream was having his public beef with Rockets management

Not Dream Team but Kobe and the Olympics. It's a 2 minute YT video, but it shows how much Kobe wanted to win.

Kobe " I'm running through Pau's fu**ing chest".

according to Wikipedia (no clue on accuracy)

quote:

Olajuwon was ineligible for selection to the "Dream Team" as he hadn't become a US citizen.[64]

Olajuwon became a naturalized American citizen on April 2, 1993.[64] For the 1996 Olympics, he received a FIBA exemption and was eligible to play for Dream Team II.
