The point the study was making is that assuming its completely innocent 7-mile intergalactic comet and ignoring it from now until then is a bad idea that could get all of humanity kilt.
Although, frankly. . . assuming it is a 7-mile wide alien spaceship. I don't know that a few months heads up is going to do us much better.
