Trump attributed this imbalance to a global pricing system where pharmaceutical companies offer deep discounts in foreign markets, then subsidize those discounts through high prices charged in the U.S., effectively making American consumers fund lower drug prices abroad.

He noted that despite the U.S. having less than 5% of the world’s population, it generates about two-thirds of global pharmaceutical profits, calling the arrangement unfair.

This system, he argued, allows other nations to "free-ride" on American pharmaceutical innovation and spending.

Aren't we only one of two countries that allow drug companies to advertise?

The only reason this is works is because these other countries don't allow the pharmaceutical companies to buy television advertisements and flood the market with commercials offering cures for anything and everything you can imagine.

People would reject the shite if they didn't see ads for it everywhere they looked.

Exactly.

Get rid of that and the problem will solve itself. In the meanwhile they need to expose the eugenics programs for what they are and hold these bastards accountable.

What did he say? This is S tier click bait, though. I'm now genuinely curious.

The administration has given pharmaceutical companies 30 days to begin implementation.

If they don't comply voluntarily, Trump will use America's massive trade leverage to ensure compliance.

And he'll add tariffs to countries that don't pay their fair share.

The same exact thing is done in AG. Seed, chemicals, equipment, all have additional fees and charges for US farmers that are not paid by farmers outside the US.

I wish we would do that.

I'm sick and tired of the aids commercials

RFK said he is going to do a way with it. Wish it would have already happened, but this is a multi-trillion dollar industry we are talking about. They've got a lot of power. I'm sure it's going to take a bit of time, but I believe they'll get it done.

I don’t believe advertising is the reason.

There are way more schemes in Medication pricing between insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies that artificially inflate prices to justify collecting a meager payment from insurance providers.

Might be time to put most non opioid drugs over the counter to get past the pricing cabals.

This is actually a very interesting situation.

Foreign markets are mostly public and can only pay so much for meds with their national healthcare/insurance systems.

So if they can't afford these drugs, the drug companies will lose revenue. Will they offset that loss by raising prices of American drugs? Or will they just eat the revenue losses and a new paradigm will emerge in a few years with lower profitability for these companies?
