You weren’t put on Earth to own a house

God or nature of the spaghetti monster didn’t create you with the life purpose of owning a house (substitute any of the 100 other things you have been convinced that you have to own).
Is it an assumption that the US should continue building new houses forever?

I've read this a handful of times and have no idea what you're trying to say. But that's crazy or sorry for your loss. Whatever fits.

I think it's pretty obvious the powers-that-be want the populace to be comfortable and distracted. And aggrieved at the same time.

Why shouldn't they?

Scorching hot “I bought my house for $3500.00 pull yourself up by your bootstraps” boomer take.

My point or question is this: How much of what you want is what you actually want or what society conditioned you to want? (for profit)
Had no one told you otherwise, would you naturally wanted to spend hours of your limited cutting grass each week?

We have the right to pursue happiness.

Yes, but are you pursuing what would naturally make you happy or what marketing told you will make you happy?

having a HOME is a shelter against the elements. All human species have used HOMES as a means for shelters for ALL ETERNITY. Huts, Tents, Cabins, adobes, mud huts, caves, stick huts, brick houses, wood houses, and so forth.
yes, building homes will not stop and yes it is a necessity to continue to build those homes, as the population continues to expand.

Atheist think nothing exist outside the 5 senses. Yet they also believe there was a time when none of the 5 senses existed. But magically spawned out of dirt. There is no logic, just like your post.

How many houses should be built in the US? 500 million? 20 billion?

You seem wound pretty tight for a free topic that you didn’t have to read.

Human beings have three basic needs: food, clothing and shelter. If you make any one of these too difficult to acquire for enough people, expect big trouble.

Have you ever read Maslow's Hierarchy of needs? You tell me where security is on the list, which of course includes shelter.
No offense, but this is a dumb take.
