I picked up my son and daughter from daycare. 5 and 4 yrs old. At that age, they were always fighting or arguing. That day, they were really wound up and I had a really bad day at work.

So we get close to home and they were trying to hit each other and screaming. I turned on my street and turned around to tell them to knock it off. And then I saw the lights and siren. Last thing I needed on a crappy Day. Cop came to my window and asked me why I just ran a red light.

Then he sees a big battle going on in the back seat. He looks at me and smiles. He said, "sir, have a nice day" and turns around and laughs. He figured I had more to deal with then getting a ticket.

They are now 30 and 28. I have tons of stories about the mischief they got into over the years. But they always had each other's backs and turned in to great people.

Had a buddy who had a really bad stomach ache. Told that to the cop.

Cop didn’t believe him. He proceeded to essentially piss out of his arse and the cop let him go.

Leaving the pad I got pulled over and just didn’t lie to the cop and he laughed and told me to get out of here and thanked me for being honest.

ETA and countless speeding tickets because I was driving an oilfield service truck. I did embellish a blowout situation once in Ms.

Yeah, it’s been many years ago but I was doing 95 down I-24 between Nashville and M’boro. Trooper White told me if he ever caught me speeding on his highway again, he would make sure I would regret it. I said yes sir and did the speed limit the rest of the way home.

All the time. Immediately, tell the cop you're sorry and treat them with respect. You get further with honey than you do vinegar.

Last one was on hwy 30 in St. Gabriel.

The ones that haven't talked my way out of I called the DA and negotiated a nonmoving violation to keep it from going to insurance.

After waiting for a couple minutes, proceeded through a red light because I was stupid and tired of waiting for the light to change.

Black cop pulls me over. I admit I was stupid and apologize. He writes me a ticket and I say that’s fair as I screwed up.

As he starts walking away, I told my very young daughter “What do we say?” and she says “thank you” which is something we had been working on.

Cop stops in his tracks, walks back to my car and says to my daughter - “thank you young lady, that means a lot to me”. He was kind of emotional and asked me for the ticket back and told me not to worry about it.

I figured he either had daughters or just was really tired of being treated poorly.

Either way, I think the world of that police officer.

A sheriff deputy was surprisingly gracious enough to let me go after I nearly ran into him at an intersection.

I work in a hospital… in NOLA on my way to work for the night shift , I was speeding and he let me off. 10 years ago when I worked nights in the Boro, he didnt let me off. I deserved the ticket in both cases

Cop pulled me over, I had my kids in the back seat. I was pissed off, because I was running late doing over 60 in a 45, and I was immediately a mega dick to the cop. My daughters were in the back seat and he asked them if he should give me a ticket for speeding, they both said yes. (Little shits) he thought It was funny and let me go. I felt bad for being a dick, and usually I'm not , he just caught me at a bad time.

I got pulled over while driving my (then) wife's vehicle. She was untidy to say the least and for once i worked in my favor. A Lake Charles cop pulled me over for speeding and when he asked for my insurance, I struggled to sort through all of the garbage in her car. The cop leaned in and let out an audible "jesus christ, just slow down next time".

I was around DeRidder leaving a clients office on a Wednesday afternoon before thanksgiving
I was in outside sells and the inside of my car was a wreck from being on the road for three days.
I was doing about 12 mph. He mentioned being on road before the holidays.
He asked me to be safe and slowdown
I was shocked because he was LSP and I thanked him very much.

On a different note
I got a ticket around 830pm in Woodworth for doing about 8mph over. My dad was in the hospital and not doing well.
He didn’t care and write me up.
A few days later the police association called and asked for a donation.
I said I gave it last week

I've actually gotten out of two tickets. Its amazing what being respectful to the cop can do for you instead of acting so scared of the cops that you have to get an attitude and provoke them at every turn. Maybe once you in handcuffs it would be a different story.

But yeah 1 time I rolled through a stop sign on some back road in the city that was mostly housing area where a lot of people walk (it has wide walking/biking lane). I told the cop I just left my moms doing some yard work for her and was just trying to get home to take a shower (I was sweaty and probably had some stink lines running off me). Dude let me go with just a warning.

The other time I was leaving the beach house from vacation and just was pulling out of the island and it was foggy as frick and I was going like 10 over the speed limit, thought it was 45 but was actually like 35. Dude was a state patrolman and gave me a warning, which they usually love giving out tickets so that one surprised me. But just being nice can get you out of some jams, at least more so than being an insufferable count about it.

Three times. Once for not coming to a full stop at a red light before turning right. Twice for speeding. Two of those times with my sons in the car. Did not ask to be let off. But the law man saw I was military (or retired in the last instance) and let me go.

I live in a school zone and the first week of school the cops park in my yard to catch speeders. I always have coffee and donuts ready for them that week. It’s gotten me out of at least 3 speeding tickets and 1 Dwi.
